Having a few days off was great news especially for players who played abroad. If their home country wasn't too far away, they could go and visit their family. London wasn't far away from Barcelona so Marc decided it was time to go back for those three days. He couldn't stop thinking about meeting Alicia somehow but when Fermín invited him to a party he was organising at his place, he knew he had to go. Alicia was Victoria's best friend so that obviously meant she'd be there. And Marc needed to see Alicia.
But how should Marc approach that meeting? His friends would be there...so he couldn't just talk to Alicia in front of them. And their last conversations weren't good. Marc had been too hurt by her rejection and he felt a bit stupid about how he had reacted. So...what could he do?
Well, it turned out he got to find out the answer before he expected. When he got to the building, Alicia was opening the door and she was alone.
"Hold the door!", he said and Alicia froze hearing his voice. "Hey".
"Hi. All good in London? I didn't know you were coming to the party. Or that you were here".
"It was a last minute thing and...it's fine so far. Thanks".
"Cool. You seem to be having a lot of fun over there".
What did that mean? "In which sense?"
"That girl you're seeing...".
"I'm not seeing any girls".
"I just saw on TikTok...", Marc could tell how hard it was for Alicia to say that. "That blonde girl who's a Chelsea fan. Everyone said you two were a thing".
"She has tried but I'm not interested".
"You might need to remind her again".
Marc moved closer to Alicia and then the lift finally arrived and they both got inside. Ideally, he would talk to her. Ideally, he would try to get her to give their relationship a try. But the reality was that he wanted anything Alicia was willing to give him. He missed her that much. What had always worked between them was their attraction to each other. So maybe...
"You know you're always hot. But being this jealous...fuck! I would do anything you told me to right now, Ali. I've missed you so much these past months".
Alicia wanted to just close her eyes and enjoy being so close to Marc again. To enjoy hearing those words. Because she had missed him too. A lot.
"How about you go back with your friend?"
"I rather be with you".
"Marc...".
"Come home with me tonight", he told her, leaning down to whisper the words to her.
"No!"
"Why not?"
"I'm staying at Vicky's tonight".
The lift made it to their destination and Alicia got out of it as fast as she could. She had the keys to the apartment as well and tried to pick the right one without dropping the whole set because of how nervous she was.
"Ali...".
"Don't! Just don't".
When she opened the door, she noticed Fermín was near it, probably waiting for more guests to arrive.
"Hi Ali...and Marc? Hey bro, how's London?"
"Good. It's good".
While the two friends hugged, Alicia left to find Victoria. If she stayed with her friend all night, Marc wouldn't approach her again, right? Because there were only so many times she could lie to herself and pretend like she wanted to reject his advances.
