Summary: Beatrix and company must travel to Subject 21's realm for the next part of their journey.
The next morning, after the events thus far had been properly explained to Roberta and Nina, Henry called everyone downstairs. They all went straight to the living room, where they were instructed to watch another video. This would be the second one, and they were a bit nervous as to what they would discover.
The video began with a scene of a futuristic city, with flying cars and skyscrapers at nearly every angle. Subject 21 and Helena stood atop one such skyscraper, looking down at all the mortals below. The former scoffed, for the humans were pathetic in her mind. As for Helena, a sense of sadness filled her. She had never known what it was like to be human, and perhaps she didn't want to.
21 took a step forward, as though she was about to step right off the roof. Helena held out a hand in an attempt to yank her back, but her friend had already fallen. She watched as the half-demon grew a pair of black-and-purple wings right before landing on the concrete below. Without looking back, she flew toward the other side of the city. Helena sighed heavily, for she was forced to chase after her friend.
"21, wait for me!" she called out, despite knowing that doing so would be pointless.
The scene changed to show 21, who had just landed on top of another building. She held out her hands, and a large book with a dark purple cover and gold letters appeared. A single word stood out: NIGHTFALL.
Those watching the video gasped. "Nightfall?" questioned Coco. "We've heard of that place before. Isn't that where Helena is from?"
"The entire organization resides there now," Henry explained. "Just keep watching."
Upon opening the book, a large portal appeared. 21 hesitated before stepping through, the book vanishing in a puff of smoke afterward. On the other side was quite an eerie realm. The sky was a dark shade of red, and all of the trees in the area appeared to be dead. The ground wasn't in a much better condition, as it was covered in ash.
21 sighed, "Ah, Nightfall. It has been quite some time since I last visited this place. I hate that I had to leave Helena behind, but she wouldn't want to see what our home has become."
Just as she was about to take a step forward, footsteps drew near. She turned around rather quickly, her left eye popping out in the process, prompting her to push it back in. She could barely make out a figure in the mere distance, and she squinted her eyes.
Summoning a double-bladed scythe that was purple and black in color, she demanded, "Who goes there?"
The figure chuckled, and it soon turned into menacing laughter as they walked closer, stopping once they were directly in front of 21. She raised an eyebrow as she stared at the newcomer, who wore the organization's signature black cloak.
"Oh, it's one of you," she said, seemingly relieved. "Which one are you again?"
"You must be the Superior," the individual spoke in a feminine voice.
That confused 21 even more. "You are wearing our cloak. You should know who your own master is."
"I am not one of you. I am simply wearing this as...well, it doesn't really matter. I want you to listen to me."
"I take orders from no one."
"What you are trying to achieve will be for naught."
21 took a menacing step forward. "You know nothing about me. Now, if you do not leave, I will end your pathetic life." She paused. "You're...not from this realm, are you?"
