{Setting: Prosper City Park}
*the two tweens walk through the park*
Kaylee: So, what is this again?
Silver: It's an Icee, but don't drink it too fast or--
Kaylee: Argh! *grips her head*
Silver: And there's the brain freeze. ^_^"
*later, they sit down at a table at the picnic area of the park*
Kaylee: *stares at all the trees and watches kids, young and old, play around happily*
Silver: *notices* It's amazing, isn't it?
Kaylee: Yeah, it sure is... a bit unbelievable even.
Silver: *looks around* I remember my dad used to take me here almost all the time when I was younger.
Kaylee: ...um... *turns to Silver* If you don't mind me asking... what happened to your parents?
Silver: Hm, well, since I asked you it's only fair.
Kaylee: You don't have to tell me if you don't feel like it!
Silver: Nah, it's fine. *thinks for a moment* Well there isn't much to say about my mom. I never really got to meet her.
Kaylee: Why's that?
Silver: She died when I was...two months, I think.
Kaylee: Oh...
Silver: My Dad-- well...after my mom died, he kinda let depression ruin him. He lost his job, we lost our house, and we had to live in the ghetto part of town. Luckily, we knew a lot of nice people. Dad's friends would bring us food and when I was a baby gave me clothes and baby toys. They were all great company. Everything seemed fine despite our situation... but...
Kaylee: *listens with a worried look* ...
Silver: One day, I was eight years old at the time, he left and said one of his friends was coming over to watch me... the friend never came... and... my dad never came back.
Kaylee: ...I'm... I'm sorry.... about--
Silver: It's alright.
Kaylee: So, how'd you end up with...?
Silver: Ms. Irene? If I remember correctly, I fell asleep after a few hours of waiting. When I woke up some random guy was carrying me. I freaked out, struggled out of his grip and immediately bolted down a hallway. Looking back to see if he was following me, I bumped into something. I looked up and saw Ms. Irene. Turns out I had been brought to an orphanage and Ms. Irene was there looking to adopt a child, a girl to be specific, but she ended up adopting me instead.
Kaylee: Well, at least you have someone.
Silver: Yep, definitely.
Kaylee: ...Again, sorry about your parents...
Silver: It's fine, Kaylee.
Kaylee: ...I find it odd that you can talk so freely on such... a touchy subject.
Silver: *sips his cherry Icee and looks back up at her* If there's one thing life taught me, it's not to dwell on the past. Yes, bad things happen, yeah, you make mistakes, but you just can't let it get to you, you just kinda have to roll with it. Make the best out of what you've got.
Kaylee: *thinks for a moment then smiles* ...you know... you're right. Thanks, Silver.
Silver: Um, you're welcome? *looks a little confused*
Kaylee: *giggles then sips her blue raspberry Icee*
Silver: Hm... ya know... I don't think Ms. Irene would mind having you with us.
Kaylee: Wait... what?
Silver: You said you don't have any parents, or anyone at all really, and I know Ms. Irene would love to have you, plus, like you said, someone's better than no one.
Kaylee: So... you wouldn't mind having... a sister?
Silver: As long as you don't mind having a brother. ;)
Kaylee: ... *runs over and hugs him*
Silver: !
Kaylee: Thank you...
Silver: *smiles and pats her back* No problem.
Kaylee: ... *looks at his tongue* Your tongue is all red!
Silver: Your tongue's all blue.
*they pause for a moment then they both laugh*
