School days weren't usually this chaotic. But then again, chaos seemed to follow me like a shadow.
"Iris, you're late!" Harper's voice rang through the hall before I even saw her. I grinned as she bounced up beside me, her blonde hair a tangled mess of waves, a testament to her 'wild child' reputation. Hazel eyes sparkled with mischief like she was always two steps away from doing something completely reckless.
"Relax, we still have three minutes," I shot back, rolling my eyes. "Besides, who cares? It's just Mr. Nolan's history class. I'm not exactly dying to hear about the Industrial Revolution again."
Harper linked her arm through mine. "That's the spirit. I mean, seriously, if I have to hear about spinning jennies one more time, I'm going to lose it." She grinned at me like skipping class altogether might be on her agenda. It wouldn't be the first time.
As we wove through the crowded hallway, I noticed heads turning, people giving us casual glances. It wasn't that Harper and I were popular, but we were well-known. Harper was impossible to ignore with her big personality, and I guess I wasn't exactly invisible either.
