Jungwon is alone in one of the lab rooms, sitting by a table and reading a folder of random files he found in the lab archives. This particular room was empty, no equipment and items in sight - just a typical lab table, some stools, empty shelves and windows. His eyes are much too focused on the files to have noticed a figure walking into the room.
“Sunoo said you’d be here.”
Jungwon looks up to see Jay leaning against the lab room’s door frame, head slightly tilted to the side to display his nonchalance. The doctor gently nods his head, “Yeah, if you guys need the lab tests from the stuff we brought back, they’re with Chaewon.”
“That’s fine.” Jay responds, “We already had Riki bring it up to Jung.”
“What else can I help you with then?” Jungwon says, mirroring Jay’s tone of disinterest.
The agent walks closer until he’s standing beside the younger. He leans against the table, arms crossed as he fixes his eyes on the white floors. Jungwon studies his behavior, taking into account the way Jay chews on his lip and blinks his eyes repeatedly.
Almost as if he was nervous.
Was that even possible? Someone like him…nervous? Jungwon has to bite back the urge to smile, so he looks away and coughs.
“If you’re here to interrogate me about…that time…then I have nothing to tell you.” Jungwon says softly, eyes staring at the lab table.
Jay clears his throat similarly, “I…I came here to ask if you’re alright. I mean, if you’ve been doing alright since…that time.”
Jungwon feels his cheeks blush with a pink hue; he isn’t sure if it’s embarrassment over his behavior during the interrogation or flusteredness over Jay’s concern. Nonetheless, the doctor takes a deep breath and replies, “I’m sorry, I must have caused a ruckus. I’m…alright, thank you, Agent Park.”
Jay’s body visibly relaxes as he turns his body to face the doctor better. He places his elbow and arm on the table to lean sideways, tilting his head as he speaks. “I do have to ask though…it’s part of my job.”
