The night was warm.. she stared up at the stars and back at him, admiring the gaze he shared with her at the Big Dipper in The sky. The last time they had been out in the mountains had been amazing, she'd never forget it in a million years. The trees blew soft in the campfire scented breeze, same as tonight. The sky was just as gorgeous with different constellations this time, the lake flat like glass. Jenna loved him, and he didn't know it yet, or maybe he did. She hadn't told him but maybe he just knew by the way their time felt endless and too fast at the same time. Tonight was calm and sweet, the air wrapped them in a gentle coldness just enough to be warm in his firm hold. Jenna had sat perfectly placed with her head in his chest, her legs tangled with his as she continued to stare at Jamison. The feeling she got when she was with him was unexplainable. Not a single word.. not in any language that's ever existed could ever tell the world how her heart felt with his breath in her ear, his eyes meeting with hers.. his smile melting away any trouble may have she carried that day. Jamison existing was purely all Jenna needed to survive.
Jenna held her head up enough to see Jamison's eyes, hazel brown with flecks of yellow highlights, "I don't know if you know this, but every song sounds like a new melody now that I've met you." Jenna paused, thinking about how his eyes were full of dreams and how she wanted to be a part of all of them. "I love you too Jenna." Jamison said, he didn't look down at Jenna like she'd expected, he did something better. When he answered her he'd pulled her in closer and hugged her tighter, resting his head of dark hair on her head as he wrapped one hand around the side of face. His strong and soft tattooed hand covered her right ear, muffling the sound of the owl in the distance. Now the only sound that sung to her was his heart beat. Jenna smiled and nestled in closer to Jamison, no words were needed while They watched the stars together and enjoyed the night under the trees. The first night had felt like a dream, but this moment told her everything she'd wondered about. That every moment she'd ever make.. he'd be there.
That next Monday morning was different than every other Monday, but not for any usual reason. Most days Jenna Grey spent her time editing and answering emails about her business. Jenna was a small town photographer in Cave Spring, Georgia. She had wanted to be one since she was little, taking photos with her tiny blue phone she'd gotten from her parents. Dreaming throughout school and hoping her grades were good enough for any collage that would help her start a business. Eventually that dream had gone away, after hearing how it would never be enough to make a living. After being pushed to find work and move out, her dreams faded to the back of her mind for a couple years while she worked at a simple clothing store. Nothing was wrong with it but it never felt right. When the day finally came where she'd decided she didn't care if anyone thought it was enough, she'd jumped into it without a doubt in her mind. Getting her business started wasn't easy, but after about a year of working hard to gain clients and perfecting her photos and edits, she'd started making enough to cover her rent and was able to work part to cover what her photos didn't. Oddly enough, Jenna had spent a chunk of her life dreaming about doing this and yet today she'd been dreaming about Jamison. Jamison Jones, about the most manly man she'd ever met. She tried working in different places, playing music on her speaker, head phones, she even tried going outside in the sun to find focus, but to no avail. After about an hour she had to stop and call him. The phone rang twice before his voice carried though the phones speaker. "Well hello beautiful lady! What are you up to?" Jamison asked, his voice chipper and silly as he answered the phone. "Well, I called to tell you that you broke my brain!" Jenna laughed and skipped over to her sliding glass door, watching a set of birds making sweet noises to each other. "Oh! Well, how exactly did I do that?" He laughed back. "I can't work," Jenna replied, "I've keep trying to answer emails, book sessions and edit my photos and i just can't seem to keep to it! All I can think about is you." Jenna smiled into the phone, feeling her cheeks turn bright red as the flowers in her neighbors yard. Jenna could tell he was smiling when he spoke again. "Lucky for you I'm great at fixing things, I'll be over right now! Just give me a second to finish what I'm doing here and you can expect me within the hour." Jamison was at work and Jenna knew that, but he'd told her that she could call him any time and he'd always answer. To her, that felt strange as she'd never had anyone tell her to call any time, at least no one she'd dated before. Jenna giggled at the thought of him actually showing up just because her cheeks hurt from smiling. "I don't know if you can fix it but hey I wouldn't stop you from trying." Jenna flirted, twirling her hair and smiling even bigger than she thought she could. "What are you working on right now anyways?" Jamison took a deep breath and let it out as he started to talk. "Right now I'm just doing a temp. check," he said, "and all I have to do is make sure the chemicals are balanced and then I can go to my next job." "Oh, I'm glad you have something easy you're doing, when do you get off work? I'd love to see you again if you're not busy." Jenna felt nervous when she asked that but realized that it was silly and she didn't need to be nervous. "I get off at six today but I do have plans so I don't think I can come by after work, but I'll talk to you all day!" Jamison had been working pools for a long time, eleven years he'd told her on while they visited on the phone. The more they talked the more she felt like they'd been together forever already. He'd told her so much about trucks and things that he knew, she loved learning new things from him, and yet they'd spent two nights together. As they talked about art and music, their favorite sounds and smells, and anything their minds traveled to, Jenna laid on the couch blissfully unaware that her movie was almost over already. An hour had gone by and she had no idea. The only thing that brought her back to reality of time was the knock at her front door. "Huh.. that's weird, I'm not expecting anyone. Hold on Jamison someone's at my door." Jenna announced in confusion as she walked cautiously to her red steal front door. She normally peaked out the window to see who it was but her mind was elsewhere as she was still thinking about the handsome man on the other end of the phone. "Oh my god you didn't!" Jenna's heart skipped fifty beats when she'd seen his face. "I thought you had plans!" She said as she slung her arms around his neck and kissed him. He was taller than her, beings that she was only four foot nine, it wasn't hard for anyone to be taller than her. She guessed he was probably five ten or something, but she was never really good at guessing heights and lengths. "I did! My plans were to come see you silly!" Jamison smiled his soft and homey smile at Jenna, she could barely contain her excitement, and didn't bother to try. With a short pause, he asked if she was hungry. "Of course I am," Jenna said jumping over to grab her coat and throw her boots on. Ready in seconds, phone, wallet keys, and they were out the door. His soft hand gripped her small unpainted hand and held it tight, swinging her hand up in the air and back down fast and dorky just to make her laugh.
"This place is supposed to be really nice, but you're absolutely perfect the way you are so no need to dress fancy. You'll blend right in!" Jenna loved hearing him talk, about anything really. His voice was strong and slightly deep, it gave off a sweet but manly sound that sounded like music when he spoke, and she could never get enough of it. Any time he spoke of his day she just listened intently to each word. Her eyes wide and showed complete focus. She didn't want to miss anything. "Hey, the drive up there is gorgeous, we should stop on the way and get some pictures, we're early enough we can." Jamison said, excited to see Jenna's face light up at the idea of stopping to see beauty along the way. "Where are we going?" Jenna asked. "Well, I can't tell you," Jamison said with a grin, poking Jenna in the side to tickle her slightly, "it's a surprise." Jenna climbed into the passenger side of Jamison's Chevy truck, it too was taller than she remembered it was. She had to grab onto the side and almost jump in, landing dramatically in the seat. He kept it clean inside, it smelled of a fresh car scent even though she knew it wasn't new at all.
Jamison hopped in on his side and looked over at Jenna, "Are you ready?" He asked with a face full of happiness. "Ready!" She hopped a little when she spoke, anxious to see where they were going, thrilled that he made the choice to make it surprise for no reason. Things like this had never happed to Jenna before, no one had ever planned a surprise date, no one had ever really done much anything before. The idea of someone being everything Jenna had ever been looking for, and more she didn't know she even needed, was surreal.
All the way up until their stop for the site Jamison had told her about they talked about life and the things they'd hoped to have in the future. Kids, a house and a big yard, little fire place in the back. "It's crazy to think we could be this happy so quickly, I think we set a new record for falling in love." Jenna joked and continued, "When I was little.. I always dreamt of meeting someone that would dance and sing with me, be silly, be free. I wasn't sure if I'd ever find that person. Yet, here you are." Jenna felt completely safe telling Jamison anything she was thinking. Something about the way he spoke to her gave her a deeper understanding of his soul. "All I'm doing is loving you my dear." He spoke in a cute cowboy accent to be silly and Jenna laughed. "Seriously though, I don't pretend to be anything I'm not, I'm country and a little rough I think, but I love hard if you let me and I will always stay true to myself no matter who's there to see it. I'm honest and I'll always treat you how I feel I should be treated. I've come a long ways and been hurt so many times that I could never hurt you in any way that I have been in the past." Jamison spoke with a softness but still firm, his tone making him sound serious as he meant to, but not in a way that would steer Jenna away from the conversation.  She understood what he was sharing with her and knew that this was obviously important to him. That this was how he saw a functioning relationship, and he was right. He deserved to be treated well. Jenna knew she could be the one who would give him everything he never had. "I completely agree!" She answered, maintaining the serious persona that was floating through the air. "I want the same thing, I can't imagine anyone that doesn't want that." Jenna studied Jamison's face as he drove thoughtfully and watched the road, keeping pace behind the small car in front of them. She noticed a small tattoo behind his ear she hadn't seen before. "What is this?" Jenna asked, leaning over and brushing her hand over the small piece of artwork, her thumb gliding over it just before resting her land on the back of his neck. "That's a tattoo gun, I had it done because I love doing tattoos, I don't think I told you but I love drawing and creating art. I did most of my tattoos actually, I'll have to show you them later." He explained and motioned over his arms and his chest.
"I'd love to! I have a couple myself. I'd like more, but I have so many ideas that I really can't decide what I want to do next." Jenna thought about the different ideas she had for a minute until Jamison pointed off in the distance. "See that little building over there?" "Yes, is that where we're going?" Jenna asked looking to where he was pointing. "It is!" Jamison had a cute excited smile plastered over his cheeks, his trimmed beard lifted with his smile. "I've heard so many good things about this place, I hope you like it. I've never been here and I hope you haven't been here either, although this is a small town so maybe you have." Jamison continued to look at the road and drive with caution. Within only a few minutes they'd made it to the little building and had pulled into a parking spot, climbing out and taking Jenna's hand, he led her into the surprise restaurant. The name on the front of the cute little building was A&B Creekside. She really hadn't been here, that was surprising for how little there was to choose from here in Cave Spring, Georgia.
"You did good! This is new!" Jenna laughed as she walked through the door Jamison had opened for her. The pathway was at an upward slant on a homemade deck, the front of the building had a wall made of black rock that lined the side and gave it a cute earthy vibe. Jenna loved how cute it was inside. Simple, elegant, light brown wood flooring filled the room. Dark brown chairs and tables across the room stood strong and Jenna found them to be absolutely gorgeous. To top the room off, she notched the windows were so large you almost had pure window instead of wall. You could see the area around the restaurant. Homes surrounded with flowers and the restaurants sign stood in view. A women with short brown hair greeted them with a bright warm smile. "Hi, there! Is there anywhere particular you guys would prefer?" Her question came with a quick scope of the area and then she added, "We also have outside seating if you'd like that more." Jamison looked over to Jenna and grabbed her close, his arm draped around her waist, "That would be perfect, it's such a beautiful day out, we couldn't possibly pass that up." The women happily shook her head in agreement and led them to a cute little round table, the same color as the ones inside. A small menu sat center of the table with a list of wines they could choose from. Next to that were two tall and thin wine glasses hanging on a homemade wine wrack made of a couple horseshoes. The salt and pepper shakers were in tiny mason jars with handles, Jenna had seen some before and she'd always loved them. The best part of the whole place was the spot right where Jenna had been seated. Jamison had purposely placed her so that she was facing the creek behind them and a huge chunk of green land. It was astonishing that something so beautiful was here the whole time she lived in Cave Spring and she'd never seen it. The green grass and huge trees full of flowers seemed to go on forever, some trees hanging over the water and dropping flower petals on top of the clear body of water. Pink and red petals covered the area.
"So? What do you think?" Jamison asked eagerly, watching Jenna carefully as to see her reaction to the surprise he'd planned for her. "It's gorgeous here! I love it so much, this is definitely the cutest place I've ever been to. I've never even heard of this place, I can't believe it's just been here and I've probably passed it a million times going to market. What made you think to come here?" Jenna had been holding a flowers petal that was on the table when they sat down, feeling how soft it was and admiring it's daintiness. "I was out grocery shopping and asked the check out lady where I could take a beautiful women out to dinner and she told me to come find this place. I found it pretty easy with her help and they were kind enough to hold a table for me even though I don't think they normally do reservations." Jamison explained, he'd been sitting in his seat going through the wine menu and flagged down the women who had seated us. "Hi, can I get whatever wine you sell the most of and some food menus?" "Oh! Of course, I'm so sorry, I thought you had some.. here, I keep extras in my apron, and I'll be right out with the wine." The women smiled like she had when they'd first walked in and walked away briskly to the kitchen. "I have no idea what I'm getting but anything sounds good, I'm starving!" He said with hands over his stomach and patted it a few times.
"I don't know but I'm sure whatever I get will be good, but I definatley am starting with a salad." Jenna scanned the menu and couldn't decide for a few minutes, and quickly came to a decision. "Okay, I think I'm getting the steak and garlic butter potatoes, they sound the best right now. What are you getting?" Jenna floated her eyes up to Jamison and met his gave and the cutest smile she'd ever seen him make. "What?" She asked, cheesy and confused. "That's what I'm getting!" He laughed and leaned back in his chair in amusement at their choices. "Well, since we're getting the same thing, I'll order for both of us then." Jenna's cheeks changed to a blush pink color at the fact that he was such a gentlemen. She felt so lucky to be there with him, that he'd chosen her.
Jamison explained some of the things he knew how to do while they waited for their food, Jenna asked questions, wanting to learn more from him. The more he talked and tried to help her understand something she hadn't known before, the closer she got to the table. Within a short time, she was resting her head in her hands on the table, leaning in close to Jamison as he talked. Jenna was entranced in his voice.. until the waiter came back with the check. Time had flown by so fast, she'd not realized that they'd ordered and ate already with an hour and a half gone. That meant their time was over already.. and she wasn't ready. Hesitantly, Jenna stood up headed to the door with Jamison at her side, parting at his truck and climbing in at their sides. They had no words on the way back, Jenna just lied her head on Jamison's shoulder and soaked in every last moment she had with him before she he took her home. She reminded herself that he had to be her forever, so it was only for a while without him, but that seemed like forever. She shook off the thought of being alone again and centered herself back to Jamison. His breath was slow and even, his eye lashes long and thick, hands firm on the steering wheel. Jenna couldn't see his eyes from where she sat, but she remembered them perfectly. With the image of him in her mind, she could get through the next week with him out of town. He'd told her that work called him away for jobs and conventions, and although he didn't want to be away from her that long, he didn't have much choice.
The night ended with a sweet kiss and a long lingering hug, neither of them wanted to let go. Jamison had walked her up to her front door, unlocked it for her, and placed her keys gently in her handle. She could feel his heart beating sadly as hers did that he had to go, and he'd already informed her that he'd be in a room with another co-worker and she couldn't come with him. Monday couldn't come fast enough, and everyone hates Mondays.
