Jamison woke up the Tuesday morning thinking about all he had to do while he was out of town. Knowing that Jenna would be missing him as he did her already, he'd planned to call her everyday and check on her. She had let him know that a session had been planned for that Tuesday night, along with several through the day. "Good morning lovely, did you sleep well?" Jamison inquired when he called Jenna at seven AM. "Did you dream about me?" He joked right after. "I slept terrible.." Jenna sounded sad. That was not like her, she was always bubbly.. happy. "What's wrong hun? I can tell, you don't sound like yourself. Are you okay?" "Well.." Jenna began slow, unsure if she should explain or save it for when she saw him. Yet, he already knew she was upset, so she had already ruined the chance at saving him from worrying. "I'm fine, I mean I'm not sick or anything.. it's just the day feels empty without you. I know you're working, I Just can't wait for the week to be over." Jenna's voice carried despair. "Well, I plan on calling you everyday until I'm back. I can't go a day without hearing your voice, and I can't go a day without knowing you make it home safe after every session you do." Jamison explained his sweet plan and it made Jenna feel loved.
"I have to get on the road in a minute so I have to let you go and load up my truck, but I'll call you the next chance I get, okay?" Jamison tried to sound happy and cheerful, hoping Jenna would feel better knowing she would still hear from him. "I think I came handle waiting to hear from you by a couple hours versus a week." Jenna did feel better knowing she'd still get to talk Jamison, something about him being away from her made her chest feel tight. "Thank you.." Jenna said with a light airy tone, he had made her feel sure that she'd survive her time without him. Jamison said his sweet goodbye and hung up the phone, finished getting ready to leave and headed to his five hour away destination. It was true that a week was a long time, but he new he would always be back for her, even if she was scared he might not be. Being away from her was hard for him too, but Jamison would have an easier time getting through the week than Jenna would.
As the long drive began, he played his music and watched the road, taking in the beautiful clouds in the sky and dark green hills of orchards. Where Jamison was headed was a decent city called Charlotte in North Carolina. Jamison had never been there but he looked it up to see how far away he'd be driving. Unexpectedly, he found not only seeing it was a five hour drive he would dread of boredom, but that it was two hundred sixty eight miles away. Just as he'd expected the drive to be long it was just as boring. To keep himself entertained, he switched from music to podcasts every hour, tackling the tired feeling as well. His plan seemed to work and time flew by quicker this way, pulling into the large and gorgeous city. Jamison wondered how the city would bloom when the sub went down, wishing Jenna was here to take photos of the sites and the tall buildings with shining glass windows. The only thing he hated was the traffic and the amount of people everywhere. Jamison preferred A lifestyle that included absolutely no neighbors instead of this craziness.
Making his way through the annoying lines of cars that went on forever, Jamison finally found his hotel that his boss had paid for and gave him the address to. The building was like every other one there, tall and shiny with countless windows all around it. He could see the elevator gliding up to whatever floor it needed to go to, rounded out in a 3D egg shape and colored gold. After he'd found parking, the front door and had gone in to get his room key, food was the next stop. Thankfully there was a food table set up in the lobby with simple things he could grab and have charged to his room. It wasn't much but at least he didn't have to leave and go back into the unwanted car maze. Once the door to room 114 had shut behind him, Jamison found comfort in the plain hotel bed and clicked on something boring on the tv to ignore and call Jenna. "I made it!" He said after she said her cute little hello on her end. "How was the drive? How's the hotel?" Jenna asked, excited to hear from him and know he'd made it safely. "The drive was fine, nothing too exciting and the hotel is nice, I just can't wait to get back home, the number of people here drives me insane, I could never live here." Jamison said with stress in his voice. Jenna knew that when Jamison was around too many people for too long he would become anxious. She wished she could be there to keep him company. "Tell me again how far away you are?" She asked, trying not to sound too upset. "I'm a little over two hundred miles away, five hours and fifteen minutes, at least that's what my phone says." Jamison replied, a wrapper sound from his candy bar crinkled in the back room. Jenna couldn't bring herself to get off the phone with Jamison until about one in the morning, knowing they both would be exhausted, neither one of them cared. "I don't want to go but I have to, I've got clients at seven thirty today with a baby and a puppy and I just know I'll need the energy to keep both of them looking at me. Will you call me when you're done with your first class? I know it'll be after my session is done, and I don't have another one until ten." Jenna hoped he'd say yes even though she knew he probably would. "Of course! I'll call you every time I have the chance. You'll just have to let me know if you're working, I don't want to distract you or make you look unprofessional." Jamison said, his smile was evident through his voice by how high pitched it was.
Jenna couldn't contain herself from giggling and feeling dorky. The idea of someone calling her while they were at work just to hear her voice and check on her was about the cutest thing she'd ever heard of. To think that she had found someone who would do that for her was still hard believe. "Okayyy..." Jamison so finally said after a few seconds of quiet, "I guess I'll let you go, but I'll call you when I get out of my class." "You better!" Jenna joked, smiling as big as ever with rosey checks she could feel burning. "Goodnight Jamison...." "Goodnight Jenna..."
