At least, she thought with a small smirk, I don’t have time to obsess over the new CEO like everyone else.
But fate had its own way of turning even the simplest moments upside down. Just as Woo Y/N was getting back into her work, her peaceful little bubble was about to burst.
The office had been buzzing with the usual hum of activity when suddenly, the excited whispers and murmurs that had become background noise turned into something much louder—more urgent. She noticed heads turning, employees standing a little straighter, and some fixing their hair or adjusting their clothes. The sudden shift in atmosphere made her pause.
Before she could fully process what was happening, one of her colleagues hurried over to her cubicle, wide-eyed and slightly out of breath.
“Y/N, you’ll never guess what’s happening!” her colleague blurted out, eyes practically sparkling with excitement.
Y/N frowned, still focused on her draft. “What is it now? Another rumor about the CEO?”
Her colleague shook her head vigorously. “No, no! It’s not a rumor this time. He’s actually here. The new CEO! He’s in the building!”
Y/N’s hand froze mid-sentence, her pen hovering above the paper. She blinked, trying to process the words. Here? Her mind quickly dismissed the thought. There was no reason to care. After all, it wasn’t like she was going to have anything to do with him directly. He’d probably just show up at the event later and that would be the end of it. Right?
“I’m sure he is,” Y/N said, trying to sound unfazed, waving it off casually. “But I’ve got deadlines to meet. You know how it is.”
Her colleague, undeterred by Y/N’s lack of enthusiasm, leaned in closer. “But Y/N, you don’t understand! I just saw him in the lobby with his assistant, Jeon Jung Kook! And guess what—he’s 'gorgeous'. Like… devastatingly good-looking. And tall! And that suit! I mean, seriously, the rumors didn’t do him justice!”
Y/N smiled politely, though her attention was back on her work. She really didn’t see what all the fuss was about. So what if the new CEO was good-looking? It wasn’t like it would change anything for her. She had a job to do, and that was all that mattered.
But fate had other plans.
Just as she was about to turn back to her screen, she caught a glimpse of movement from the corner of her eye. Her cubicle faced the open floor, and as her colleague’s words continued to echo in her ears, she slowly, almost reluctantly, looked up.
And there he was.
Kim Tae Hyung.
Her new CEO.
Walking down the hallway with that unmistakable aura of authority, his long, confident strides made every head turn as he passed by. His sharp, jet-black hair framed his slightly tanned face, the sharp nose with that tiny, distinguishing mole standing out against his flawless skin. His suit was impeccably tailored, exuding power and control. But more than that, it was the way he carried himself, the stoic, unreadable expression on his face, that made the entire office go silent in awe.
Y/N’s heart skipped a beat. She blinked once, then twice, convinced she must be seeing things. Her mind raced, trying to piece together how this was possible—how the man she had met in the strangest, most awkward circumstances, the man who had smugly watched her search for Maeumi in his front yard, was now walking toward the executive floor of "her"company.
