Hello, and thank you so much!
This is a project that I have been working on for over seven years now (and counting)! Now that I have a full draft completed, I am glad that I am able to begin posting the revised chapters on Wattpad. When I was sixteen years old, I published the original version of this book on Wattpad, which I can no longer bear to read and has since been unpublished. (However, maybe if this receives enough reads and votes, I will republish that old draft just for your amusement, because it does, indeed, still exist).
Just a fair warning, for any young persons stumbling across this, I personally give my book a PG-13 rating. My book contains mild foul language, violence and gore, and mild inappropriate humour. However, I DO NOT write graphic sexual scenes — this goes for future books as well! Any romance is ALWAYS kept clean, so there will be no unwanted surprises for anyone who prefers clean romance (like I do).
Now that that's out of the way, just a few guidelines when reading my book:
This is a draft, so feedback and criticisms are greatly appreciated. And I can handle bluntness. Don't feel obligated to balance positive and negative reviews in every comment you leave. YOU WILL NOT HURT MY FEELINGS. I WAS AN ART MAJOR IN COLLEGE. I HAVE PROBABLY HEARD WORSE THAN ANY CRITICISM YOU COULD POSSIBLY GIVE ME.
however, if you just wanna read this for fun, please go ahead. Although I want comments and feedback, I will not berate you for them. I have already forced my boyfriend's large friend group of sci-fi nerds to commentate on my book, and their feedback has been very helpful. They are responsible for the mending of (most) of my plot holes!
What I will NOT tolerate:
(This is self-explanatory) Any offensive (and I mean offensive) and hateful comments will, of course, be deleted. Again, you can't really offend me, but I will not tolerate the mistreatment of other readers, and the posting of anything that may hurt other readers will be removed promptly! And I encourage you to report any distasteful comments to me if I don't catch them. You can do so by DMing me.
Comments I will delete:
- Anything that uses derogatory language or slurs against anyone based on race, sexual orientation, gender, and/or religious affiliation will be deleted. Please, just don't be icky like that.
- Anything that I deem weird and spammy. I don't really care if you self-promote (although it is annoying), but if it becomes frequent and spam, it's getting deleted. More on self-promotion down below.
- Anything horrifically vulgar!! Keep comments PG. Trust me, I don't mind swear words and I have a sense of humor, but I am also a Christian and just like things to be mostly clean. Again, just don't be icky.
Also DON'T STEAL MY WORK. Not that writing this would deter anyone evil enough to do such a thing, but still, I must say it. Yes, I am flattered if you think my book is good enough to steal and claim as your own, but I am 99% sure that IT IS ILLEGAL. SO DON'T DO THAAATTTT. THERE IS A COPYRIGHT ON THIS BOOK; THEREFORE, IT IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. SO YOU WILL BE COMMITTING COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IF YOU STEAL IT. AND STEALING IS SINFUL. SO DON'T DO ITTTTT. So now you have both legal and religious obligation not to do this. You're welcome.
Now for guidelines on self-promotion:
I understand that there will be self-promotion in the comments. There is no preventing it, and although I find it extremely annoying, I don't really care about it. And, this is my hot take, it is disrespectful. However, I believe there are right and wrong ways to self-promote!
The WRONG way:
- Please, for the love of all things good, DO NOT just leave a shallow comment that just baits me into reading something like "Hey btw check out MY book!" It's disrespectful, in my opinion. I will also just assume you are a bot, and your comment may be deleted if it is the only interaction you have with my story, just fyi.
The RIGHT way:
- Hey! I would love to read your book! I love giving feedback and criticism, and I understand the struggle of getting people to give you REAL constructive feedback on your story. Be mindful, I am writing this before my book makes any traction, so this may not be realistic in the future, but if you want me to read your book, send me a DM! We can have a conversation about it.
- And not to sound super transactional, but I will expect an honest read-through of my book if you want me to read yours. But please, be honest about my story. Don't try to keep your comments positive just because you don't want to hurt my feelings and you want me to continue reading your book. I will still read your book even if you don't like mine. Honesty is important to me!
So that's all I needed to mention beforehand!
