1995, no Voldemort
The Potter Manor was filled with rambunctious laughter as those who lived there and who were visiting looked at photographs and relived memories. James Potter smiled as he looked at the smiling faces of his family.
Of course there was his lovely wife, Lily, and their amazing son, Harry. There was his brothers, Sirius and Remus and his would be brother in law, Regulus. There was Niylah, who was Sirius's wife, and their daughter, Ara. There was Hestia, who was Remus's wife, and their son, Jensen. There was Pandora and Xenophillius and their daughter, Luna. There was Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, friends of Harry, Ara, Neville and Luna. There was Alice and Frank and their son, Neville. There was Marlene, Dorcas, Mary and Emmeline.
It had been a while since everyone was together.
Well, almost everyone.
His parents and twin sister weren't there.
His parents had died the previous year from old age rather than from dragonpox. They died peacefully and greeted death like an old friend.
His twin sister was murdered when they were 17 in the final days of their Seventh Year. Nessa had saved them all from suffering. She managed to destroy six horcruxes which caused Voldemort to be to die.
However, James just wished she was here. He knew all the occupants of the rooms did so as well.
None more so than Regulus.
Most days it seemed as if the younger Black Brother was going to follow Nessa into the grave.
Niylah wiped away the tears that formed from the laughter, "Do you lot remember when Nessa singlehandedly pranked the school and dyed most everyone's hair hot pink? I think it was our fourth year."
James, Lily, Regulus, Sirius, Remus, Hestia and Pandora, Alice, Frank, Marlene, Dorcas, Mary and Emmeline all nodded along with fond chuckles.
"Remember the first quidditch game after she and Reg started dating?" Pandora asked
Regulus let a faint smirk paint his face. The game has been Slytherin vs. Gryffindor and Nessa decided to wear his jersey and have his number painted on h face.
When they won, James had thrown a fit about his twin not supporting him.
"How did Aunt Nessa die?" Harry asked
The room went silent.
That was the one story none of the adults could bring themselves to finish.
Sure, the children knew about how their aunt and godmother had defeated Voldemort and they knew all the stories about her.
They even talked to her whenever she frequented her portrait in the Potter Manor. However, she spent most of her time in her other portrait which resides in Regulus's loft trying to prevent him from ending his life just to be with her.
However, the children didn't know how Jenessa Potter met her end.
For James, it hurt him too much to talk about his other half. He failed in keeping her safe. However, he thought about her everyday and about how much she had missed.
For Regulus, it hurt too much to even think about the woman he had loved. Even years later, she was still the only woman for him. They were supposed to have forever.
For Pandora and Niylah, it hurt to think about the third part of their trio. Both of them had gotten to grow up and live the rest of their lives with their lovers.
Nessa never got that chance. She was forever 17.
The Potter man looked at his son sadly, "It hurts too much to talk about her, even years later. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and how I should have protected her better."
Hermione, ever the curious one, asked the question that all the kids had been thinking, "What was she like?"
"She was amazing, breathtaking, smart, stunningly gorgeous. There aren't enough words to describe her." Regulus said looking out the window, lost in the memories of his should be and would be wife.
Neville, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna and Ara exchanged looks.
Luna looked at her mother, "Did Uncle Evan and Uncle Barty have anything to do with her death?" She asked
Pandora shook her head, "No, love. Their minds simply broke. At the time of her death, Ness was trying to create a potion that would have helped them."
This caused the children to frown harder. From the stories, they knew Jenessa Potter was a talented witch and seer.
So how was it that she ended up dying at 17?
The surviving Potter twin sighed, "It started our fifth year at Hogwarts..."
