Hazel's note: Hi everyone! Wrote this last night in the spirit of ViKa's 1 year anniversary, so it's more of a quick, unpolished piece. I didn't put too much effort into it, so please don't expect anything too detailed or refined. Hope you enjoy it anyway!

First Night
Vijay was livid.
He just wanted to tear through his room, yank down the curtains, shred the bedsheets—throw a full-blown tantrum like he always did.
Except this time the person in the room wouldn't exactly give him the attention or try to soothe him like his grandparents will. Not that he wants her attention. No, he wants her out of his room, out of his bed, just out of his sight.
Yet, here she was, fast asleep. Eyes shut tight, legs comfortably sprawled, as if this were her bed, her home. Vijay couldn't comprehend it.
How could anyone, especially a woman, share a bed so easily with someone they'd just met days ago? How was this even socially, morally, or logically acceptable? How could she sleep so soundly, as if they'd been doing this for years?
If he listened carefully, he could almost hear her soft snores. It made him want to bang his head against the wall—repeatedly—hard enough to knock himself out, so he could forget this absurd circus of a marriage he's gotten himself into.
Pressing a pillow over his ears, he mentally counted down the nights until this nightmare contract was over, groaning, but not loudly enough to wake his sleeping "bride."
Just 364 more nights to go!
Kaveri from Kodaikanal
She wasn't a stranger anymore, but that didn't make things easier. Kaveri was loud, stubborn, and always ready with a smart comment.
He thought marrying a 'simple' girl who was in a poor, helpless situation would mean peace. Instead, he got Kaveri from Kodaikanal, who apparently thought challenging him at every turn was a sport.
Even now, as she slept with that faint smile, it irked him. How can someone who causes so much trouble sleep looking like the sweetest angel? He huffed and turned away, already irritated for tomorrow and the day after, and basically every single day till the contract is over.
She was loud, insufferably stubborn, constantly making his blood boil, and prideful to a fault. The way she always stood her ground, like she had something to prove, drove him mad. She was a pain in the neck, a thorn in his side, and just... unbearable.
He hated her. Or at least, that's what he kept telling himself every hour of the day.
Love in the Dark
Vijay's frustration with Kaveri had become routine. The constant bickering, the sharp comebacks, the endless petty fights—they were all annoyances he had begrudgingly gotten used to.
Kaveri was just the curse life had thrown at him, some twisted payback for his past sins. He had almost made peace with it.
But tonight felt different.
As he lay there, something about the silence tugged at him. It felt off. Then, in the stillness, he noticed her shaking.
She wasn't snoring or tossing around like usual. She was... crying. Silent tears streamed down her face as she whimpered in her sleep. He stared, confused and strangely unsettled.
Why was she crying? He should be the one crying!
A battle played out in his mind. Should he wake her? Try to comfort her? But it felt so foreign, this urge to reach out, to stop her tears, to... weirdly protect her.
