In the shadows of my heart, a silent ache,
A love unspoken, a risk I cannot take.
You warned me not to fall, but I'm already deep,
Lost in thoughts of you, while you're fast asleep.
Your presence, a light in my darkest night,
But your love belongs to another, out of sight.
I yearn for you, though it's a futile quest,
For you're entwined with another, blessed.
I try to hide this longing, this desire so true,
But it burns within me, a fiery hue.
You're my closest friend, my confidant dear,
Yet my heart whispers your name, crystal clear.
I love you for you, flaws and all,
Your laughter, your smile, like a siren's call.
But you're bound to another, I must accept,
Though it feels like my heart is inept.
I'll cherish our moments, our talks so sweet,
Even though my heart skips a beat.
For you, I'll be a friend, loyal and true,
Even if my love remains overdue.
So here I stand, with a love untold,
A story of longing, bittersweet and bold.
You're my favorite friend, my guiding star,
Though my dreams of us must stay afar.
