Eduard's Home

I closed my door as I finally made it home today. My job was busy today. How could one little magic shop with nothing above Grade 3 gear be so busy? I drag my still-standing body to my beloved bed. Yes, you did cost a few hundred draco, but you were worth it.

I slump down on the plush bed, and my eyes so desperately want to rest, but something suddenly stops them. I feel the buzz of my crystal. Fuuuuuck! Who on the gods' forsaken planet is calling me now!

I feel around on my bed to find where the focus of my rage is. Once I find it, I allow the call to go through without seeing who it was. I hear the rough voice of my first period teacher, Professor Klein. “Is this Mr. Moon?” I get up in shock that he is calling me “This is he. How caaan I help you, sir?” He gives a soft huh and says “I know it’s late, but you and a select few students are summoned to the school tonight for an impromptu assignment. Do you require anything?”

What the hell? It's only the first day, and they want me to do this. This feels like their influence. I quickly get up and head to school once more. Once I close my door and lock it, I head out of the building. A setting sun greets me as I make my way to the obvious plot that is about to happen.

I look at the setting sun and see the two moons are already in the sky. I slowly feel my energy growing as it turns to night. One of the few good things about having Darkness affinity magic is that once it gets night, I gain a small boost in energy. As I pass, a local bakery starts to close for the night. My mind wanders to the thought of who all will be there.

A Few Hours Ago (Teachers POV)

In the meeting room, some of the second-year teachers are discussing an important meeting. Professor Klein tells the others “I disagree with adding Ms. Doja to this test. She should not even be considered for anything involving actual combat. She is untested, and I still believe she should have started in the first year and not be given special treatment.”

Professor Tula gives a chuckle at that. The Dragonkin turns to the gnome with a peeved look, and he says “Do you have something to add Professor Tula?” The gnome gives a quick pop of her jaw and then says “It’s just funny since I could ask why you want to put that Galagar brut in this very important test. I can see why Mr. Bareth wants that average sword mage, but not why we need that idiot.” Klein makes a fist in his hands, and before a screaming match can be entertained in either mind, a calm female voice says “Quiet down.”

The two quickly look like scared animals once they hear the voice of the Headmistress Kora Ardian. She has the appearance of an elf, but her true self is something older and more powerful than a normal elf. Her true self is a fey. Her people are from the fey realm—beings of tricksters and things with nothing close to normal morality that the likes of mortals have.

She tucks some of her blue hair behind her ears and then says “You all have made suggestions and funny arguments for why others should not participate in this little test of ours but I will not entertain it anymore. You have chosen twenty people out of a hundred students, and we will end it here. Do I make myself clear?”

All the professors nod, and Kora says, “Good. Now tell me who all are the participants in the annual Dungeon Break test.”

Professor Charin a ork woman grabs the list and says “The pettipants are Travis Leoheart, Juliette Leoheart, Mira Malstorm, Eduard Moon, Darren Gallger, Cassandra Gallger, Fabian Hill, Breanna Jackson, Camilla Doja, Elvanna, Denna Grey, Franklin Chase, Brandon Highborn, Elara Necko, Nadal, Trandor Narxis, Nick Armon, Hazel Gomez, Nikeah Crimson.”

The School

Everyone who was called for this special test is waiting in the courtyard. Travis is with his sister, Mira, and Eduard, talking about what they could be called for. Darren is with his cousin, and he is following the noble edict to catch up with his family he has not seen in a bit. The Princess is being talked to by many people she has only met today and is hiding her fatigue from being called here after a long day. A few are just by themselves as they wait to be told what to do.

Now, all of them at least wonder why they have all been called here at this hour, but only Eduard has the closest idea of what it could be. After a few more minutes, Professor Klein teleports in.

In the dungeon, they are about to enter a shadow figure walking around the tunnels. Once they turn a corner, they take out a box from their cloak and say “Come forth Blade Demon.” The boys slam open to let a dark smoke out. Once it reaches the ground, it takes shape. A black tall figure with long white hair and looks to be made of shadows. The cloak figure says “Go forth and slaughter.”

Hey, sorry for the late chapter. I've been in a funk and will try and be better at writing even if it’s small chapters.
