Ishita's POV

I have never seen Amrit this angry before. When he grabbed my hair, I was terrified.

He didn’t look like the Amrit I had come to know, the one I spent every day with. His eyes reflected an obsession, as if I belonged solely to him—as if he alone had the right to me.

His eyes were brimming with tears… had I hurt him? But I’m not sure about marriage.

This is the 16th century, where men often marry multiple women. How will I survive if he marries someone else?

I know he loves me, but still... It’s not that I don’t want to marry him—I just need time. A little more clarity.

I vented my anger at him, but he responded so calmly, as if he wasn’t the same person who had just grabbed my hair minutes ago.

But now, it’s time to tell him the truth. Let him decide what he wants—even if it means he’ll hate me, for lying, for running away from my past, for being selfish.

I looked at him, sitting beside me, staring at the floor.

“Amrit… I lied to you about being from Fornior. I need to tell you the truth.”

I turned to face him and closed my eyes.

“I’m from the 21st century—2024, to be exact. I’m from the future. I’m 20 years old, and I was an engineering student in my third year.

My parents died just one month before I met you. I was their only child, loved and cared for the most. I was good in academics, sports, and extracurriculars… everything seemed perfect.”

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I continued, unable to stop them. I glanced at Amrit, and he turned towards me, pulling me into his lap, holding my hand, reassuring me that he was there for me.

“They wanted me to marry their friend’s son, Rohit. I had met him a few times before, but I never liked him.

I told my parents, but they didn’t understand. They told me we’d talk after they returned from a business trip. So, I waited…”

Amrit lifted me up, gently placing me in the center of the bed. He walked over to close the curtains, giving me a sense of calm.

When he returned with a blanket, he settled me back onto his lap and wrapped us both inside. Once we were comfortable, he kissed my lips softly, wiping away my tears, and gently caressed the spot where he had pulled my hair earlier.

“You know Shelly? She’s my best friend. She loves me so much…” Thinking of Shel, a faint smile crossed my face. Amrit smiled too, rubbing my back.

“I told her about Rohit, and she did some digging. We found out that he’s bisexual.”

“Bi... what?” Amrit asked, clearly confused.

“Bisexual means someone who is attracted to both men and women.” I explained, “We even found a video of him having… fun… with both.”

His eyes widened in shock.

“That’s possible?” he asked, surprised.

He wasn’t this surprised when I told him I was from the future. I nodded and continued.

“I sent the video to my parents, and they promised to cancel the engagement as soon as they came back. I was so happy that day…”

I smiled at the memory.

“But they never came back. They had an accident and left me all alone.” My voice broke as I tried to hold back my tears.

“Shh... don’t cry, Shona,” he whispered, kissing my cheek, comforting me.
