Dinner was pretty normal, nothing special happened. Damon and I didn't say a word the whole time. I had just one thought on my mind: how am I supposed to live with this man when I barely know him? The only thing I do know is that he's a hunter, and that terrifies me. I've heard that the Blackwood hunters are ruthless and very good at what they do. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It was Damon.

– Can I come in?
– Yes.
– Tomorrow is a big day for both of us.
– I know, Damon. I'm nervous.
– Don't worry. Everyone knows this is a marriage of convenience, not love. There won't be anything intimate at the wedding or after. Anyway, it's late. I'll see you tomorrow.

With that, Damon left the room. I lay down on the bed, staring at the ceiling, my head full of questions. What's going to happen? How will this all play out? Eventually, I turned over and fell asleep.

– My Lady, good morning. It's time to wake up, – said the maid.

I didn't even realize I'd fallen asleep. Is it morning already?!

– What time is it?
– It's 12 o'clock, Milady. Your wedding is in two hours.
– Great, – I whispered sarcastically.

– Here's your breakfast. Go wash up and eat.

I got up, went to the bathroom, washed my face, and came back to the room. After eating, the maids started doing my hair and makeup, but inside, I felt nothing but fear.

– All done! – one of the maids said.
– You look so beautiful, like a goddess! – another added.

I stood up and looked in the mirror. The dress was gorgeous and fit me perfectly.

– Why do you look so sad? It's your wedding day, the best day of your life! – one of the maids said.

– Not for me. I don't love Damon. This is just a formal arrangement, – I replied.

– Every girl in the kingdom would kill to marry Damon Blackwood. They're all head over heels for him! – the maid said.

– Ha, well, I'm not one of those girls. I don't chase after men, and I'm not about to start now.

There was a knock on the door. It was a servant.

– Are you ready? – he asked.
– Yes, she's ready! – the maid replied. And we left the room.
