Sean pov
I hear the bells in the clock tower chime. I wipe my eyes off any tears.
Sean: *texting in the group chat me made with Bee and his friends* Stay safe everyone.
Bee: You stay safe too. I have all of Gluttony on lockdown and my honeycomb mansion is packed with those who couldn't find a place of their own to wait the extermination out.
Tex: Verosika and the gang are safe too Bud. We've survived past exterminations before meeting you so this one shouldn't be any different.
Sean: Just... please don't die or else I'll never forgive you guys. When this shit is all over, we can all hang together. I'll pay for lunch.
I sighed loudly before closing my phone and putting it down.
Sean: Extermination of all these souls just because of something as inconvenient and harmless as overpopulation? As if the denizens of Hell would actually try starting an uprising.
I then feel a hand on my shoulder, and look over to see Vaggie.
Vaggie: You know you don't have to be here to witness it.
Sean: I-... I think it's better if I do. If I am going to truly understand why the people down here fear this day I need to see it first hand.
Vaggie: Just... don't do anything rash, okay?
Sean: Alright I get it, Vaggie. I won't try playing hero this time.
Vaggie: Just don't go off dying Hermano pequeño.
She patted my cheek and exited the room.
Clink clink clink
I look up...
Lute: Hello, human~
Sean: Lute...
I open the window, and she lands inside. She takes her helmet off, then stares me down... but then she smiles, but in a creepy kind of way.
Lute: Why do you fight for this filth?
Sean: They aren't-... they aren't filth. They are my friends... I'll go as far to even call them family!
Lute: Then why are they down here? If they were anything better than scum, they would be in heaven.
I look over to the flower in a small vase.
Sean: Heh... they're certainly far better than you entitled guys upstairs.
She slams me into the wall, gritting her teeth. She gets close to my ear, and whispers to me.
Lute: You will not disrespect Heaven like that.
Sean: Yet you have the right to talk down on Hell and slaughter its inhabitants annually!? What about it? What're you going to do? If you kill me, Sera will know, and she'll shut down the exterminations.
Lute: You think you're that important to her?
Sean: No... she just really hates Adam.
Lute: You-...
Sean: Lute...
I lightly grab her wrist and look down at her.
Sean: I've seen people down here who... they just don't deserve this. There are children down here, ones who barely got to live their lives at all... don't you feel like there's something wrong with this system? What sinful acts are capable of dragging youthful souls down here?
Lute: Y-you... you don't get it-
Sean: There isn't anything to get Lute, genuinely kind people are forced to stay down here just because of some fucking coin flip!
