Nightmares

The last thing I remembered was going with Rhysand to the Prison, I had a panic attack and then felt a searing light burning into my head.

I opened my eyes and scanned my surroundings warily, wondering what happened that led to my current circumstances.

I appeared to be in a forest, but there wasn't any sight of Rhysand—or his court—near me.

Did I get kidnapped and dumped? Is Hybern behind this? Or Tamlin?

I frantically checked my body for any sign of injury but surprisingly found none. Confused and with my head spinning, I sat up and tried to orient myself with the foreign surroundings, but found myself even more confused by my attire. I was outfitted in dirty, ragged clothes and I had a strap across my chest. I grab it and pull it off, realizing in the process it's an old fletcher of arrows. Looking around I found my bow tossed haphazardly at my feet.

At least I have a weapon I guess.

I heard a rustle in the trees and panicked. I ended up doing the only thing I could think of, I tried to winnow, it didn't work.

What happened? Why isn't this working?

I was freaked out and so I just ran as fast and as hard as I could in the opposite direction. Which wasn't fast at, but I hoped that it would be enough to escape. The adrenaline took over my muscles, and I kept running until I couldn't go any farther. Collapsing on the ground panting, I struggled to regain my breath and take account of the new area I was in.

I emerged into a clearing, with a familiar run down house in front of me and frosted, dilapidated garden rows on either side of me. It's only then that I saw the ice around me that I realized just how cold it really was. Every muscle in my body was screaming and my breath was labored, so I stayed where I was until I calmed down and my blood wasn't rushing in my head anymore. Cautiously I stood and approached the door of the hut, I lightly pushed and it gave way beneath my touch, revealing an equally ramshackle inside.

"Hello?" I call into the house and get no response, however a few seconds later two familiar, but yet different, girls emerged from the back of the house.

My sisters? Or at least their look alikes, but combined with the house this is a really odd dream.

"Hey, can you help me? I got lost in the forest, I think I got knocked out or something but-"

"What are you talking about Feyre?"

"Huh?" I looked on in confusion. Does she think I'm lying?

I am either having a really weird dream or I somehow time traveled. My head was spinning again, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, hear it in my ears.

"Feyre?" The younger one asks.

Elaine, my mind supplies. My sister, but... human.

"Yeah I'm alright, just give me a second here please Elaine."

Nests scoffed and crossed her arms, "Don't try and get her pity, you were supposed to bring back food, now you're ranting about some nonsense, and we're going to starve!"

"I know, I'm sorry, I don't know what happened. I'll go out tomorrow and hunt again."

Please go away.

I just wanted to be alone, I needed to process all this information, but I also didn't want her to hate me.

Nesta's eyes narrowed, but she backed off and headed into the next room. "Come on Elaine, just leave her be."

At some point I must have fallen asleep in the entryway, because I awoke to Elaine shaking me.

"Come on, I boiled some water with a bit of dried rabbit and veggies, so we can have a bit of food tonight. This way you'll regain your energy and hunt better tomorrow!"

I smiled at her, and got up. We headed to the kitchen and sat at the table, where my dad and sister sat already. The soup was warm in my stomach, not lasting nearly as much as I wish it would.

I tried to quickly clean the table so I could head to our shared bed. Maybe I would wake back up with Rhysand and his court tomorrow.
