Anna's POV;
'Has Davis come to Atlanta? He's sitting with college students that means, He is in a college here!? Are we in the same college?' The questions flood in my mind.
"Girl, why are you staring in that direction since so long, is there someone hot? Are you checking the guys out?" Addy asked, curiously, looking in the same direction.
"No.. I- Actually... That's Davis!" I blurted out. "Who's Davis, Omg, you already got a boyfriend?!" She asked, amused leaning closer to me.
"Oh hell nahh! He's just my best friend from school." I said. "Oh!" She disappointedly sat back."So you're going to talk to him or just sit here and stare?" She inquired. Our burgers were on the table by now and Addy started eating hers.
"I think.. I should. But I don't know if I should, right now..." I mumbled.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked."Long story.. I kinda cut him off while I was with my ex, along with my other friends." I told her.
"That sounds bad." She said while chewing the burger.
"It was." I said.Addy told me to at least eat my burger before it gets cold. I picked it up and took a bite. Normally, I'm not a messy eater, but when it comes to burgers or hotdogs, I just can't manage. As soon as I bit into it, a whole slice of tomato slipped out of my mouth, followed by some lettuce. Addy laughed at me.
I was embarrassed, but things got worse when I noticed Davis looking at me. His face showed a mix of surprise, confusion, excitement, and more, all while I struggled to keep the tomato slice and lettuce from falling. His expression shifted from amusement to something like he was trying to hold back laughter or smiling at my clumsiness.
I finally managed to shove everything back into my mouth and chewed as normally as I could, giving him an awkward smile and a quick wave to say hi. He waved back at me but then he excused himself from his group of friends and walked towards me.
I was sitting on a couch type seater with space of at least three people and Addy was sitting in front of me on a single sofa chair. Davis, came and sat next to me.
"I didn't expect to see you anytime soon, Marshall," said Davis.
"My name's Anna," I corrected.
"Your last name is Marshall," he said.
"I know that, but it sounds like I'm a man when you call me that," I replied, sipping my Coke before taking a bite of my burger."You are a man—Spider-Man," he joked. "Because the way you're handling that burger, it looks like your webs are not working."
I gave him a deadpan look, but he just laughed, clearly amused by his own joke. Addy chuckled silently as well, hearing us talk.
"This is Addy, my friend in college." I told him.
"Oh, hi, I'm Davis. Anna's... school friend." He hesitated, the ice between us still lingering from past events."Best friend," I corrected. He shot me a curious look, his eyes silently asking, 'Am I really still your best friend?'
"Are you... at Georgia State University?" I asked finally, breaking the pause.
"Yes, doing a Bachelor's in Tech and CS. Don't tell me you're a student here too." he asked, suddenly more curious.
"I am..."
"Pursuing what?" he followed up.
"B.A. Honours in English Lit. plus Psychology," I replied.
"Sounds dope. That was always your dream, huh? English Literature. You did it, Marshall," he said, a tiny smile tugging at his lips. One of the guys from Davis's friends group, sitting at the table across from us, glanced over and gave Davis and me a curious look. Meanwhile, Davis's order—a mini pizza—had been sitting untouched on their table for what felt like since the Victorian era, getting cold.
"Guess I gotta go eat my pizza," he said, standing up. I nodded, but before he left, I called out, "Dave." He turned around. "Has your contact number changed?"
He paused, looking at me for a moment. The silence was a little awkward. "Yeah, I lost my phone a while back, so..."
"Oh." I sighed. "Well then, save it on my phone." I handed him my phone with the dial pad open. He typed in a few digits, saved the number, and handed it back to me before heading back to his table, where his friends were already calling for him.
I glanced at the screen. He'd saved his number as 'Davis Gardner GSU' Seriously? Who saves their number like that? I wouldn't even save a stranger's contact with their college initials with it.
"He's really just your best friend?" Addy asked.
"Yes, why?" I replied, raising an eyebrow.
"You guys just look like you're dating," she teased.
"Oh, shut up!" I shot back, rolling my eyes. While walking out of the restaurant with Addy I waved goodbye to him and he smiled and waved back at me.

Third person POV:
Davis was caught in a whirlwind of emotions—excitement, dilemma, and anticipation.
Excitement, because his best friend, his secret keeper, his partner in crime from back in school, was now in the same college as him. The thought of reconnecting after all this time thrilled him.
Dilemma, because he couldn't help but wonder if their friendship was still as strong as it had been before, withstanding the test of time and the bitter past events. Could things go back to the way they were?
Anticipation, because he didn't know what the future held. Would this reunion bring them closer, or would it only unravel the tangled mess of emotions and memories they had both tried to bury? And did she break up with that asshole of a guy Samuel, or NOT?
"Who was she?" Ryan, his roommate and friend, asked.
"Marshall. Anna, my best friend from school." He replied."Ohh.. so you know her since school.." Sasha asked.
"Yes, freshman year, high school.""Dude, that's like FOUR years. You know her since that long, why don't you date her?!" She asked excitingly.
Davis fell quiet with no answers. He never thought about it. Besides, he had a girlfriend. Nysha. His college buddies didn't know about it.
"We're just friends..." He sighed.
