Anna's POV:-
Monday flew by in a blur of classes and lectures, dragging on until noon. By the time I got home, I was exhausted. Morning lectures had always been a lost cause for me-it was almost a trademark at this point. To make up for it, I attended the later ones. Well, most of the time. Sometimes Addy and I would show up late and skip altogether, too embarrassed to walk in mid-lecture. Instead, we'd park ourselves in the garden, chatting until it was time for the next class.
...
"So, where exactly are we going?" I asked, letting Davis's enthusiasm convince me to skip class. I didn't mind missing a lecture or two as long as there wasn't something really important that would get me in trouble later. We strolled out of campus, the crisp chill in the air brushing past us.
"I looked up a few places we could explore," he replied casually, a slight grin tugging at his lips.
I glanced at him and chuckled. "Did you really plan on twinning with me?" He was in a black sweatshirt paired with denim, and I had on a black shrug over a gray tee, with matching denim too. No joke-same shade and all.
"It's just a coincidence," he said, feigning innocence.
"Great! Same pinch!" I grinned, pinching his arm.
"Oww! That was... brutal!" he yelped, rubbing the spot while I laughed at his over-the-top reaction.
As we left campus, Davis mentioned we'd be taking the subway to our destination but remained annoyingly vague about where exactly we were going. "You'll see," he said, brushing off my repeated questions with a cryptic smile.
Seated on the subway, I couldn't resist pulling out my phone and snapping an ugly picture of him using a ridiculous filter. His face was priceless-distorted in the funniest way possible.
"Hey! Delete that!" he protested, reaching for my phone, but I was faster, already sending it to my friends on Snapchat.
He sank back into his seat, giving me a sulking look.
"Relax!" I laughed. "We don't even have that many mutuals. I don't add most people from school or college-just a handful from my class. Nobody's going to know it's Davis Gardner from Kirkswood town."
He chuckled wryly at my teasing but didn't offer much of a reaction, which, honestly, made the whole thing even funnier to me.
After changing two subway routes, we finally arrived. As we stepped out of the station, I found myself on the edge of a wide, vibrant street. The crisp fall air carried a soothing warmth from the sunshine, and the trees lining the sidewalk were tinged with auburn, their leaves scattering like nature's confetti. The scene was picturesque, almost unreal, and I stood for a moment, trying to take it all in.
We were at Marietta Square-a charming, historic spot in Atlanta. The square had a storybook feel with its brick-lined streets, vintage storefronts, and an inviting atmosphere that seemed alive with laughter and chatter. Quaint boutiques and cozy cafes nestled beside arcades, bookstores, and vibrant eateries. The heart of the square was marked by a beautiful green park with a bubbling fountain at its center, surrounded by benches and pathways shaded by sprawling trees.
Street performers played soft music, filling the air with a cheerful melody, while families strolled leisurely, kids giggling as they ran across the park and fountain. The aroma of fresh coffee and warm pastries mingled with the crisp autumn breeze. It felt like a slice of magic tucked into the city-a place where time slowed down just enough for you to savor it.
I glanced at Davis, grinning from ear to ear. "This... is amazing," I said, my eyes wide. He looked pleased, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets. "Told you it'd be worth the subway ride."
