The attack on the Trost District was different from the attack on Shiganshina in every way. Gray could feel it and he didn't know why. He had his guesses, of course, but apart from one, none of them made sense to him.

His theory was that when they broke the Maria Wall, he was only 10 years old. Now, aged 15 and with an impressive number of years spent on the island, he saw the attack in a different light.

But he had no time for moods. This was a war! And he intended to win it!

Not waiting for instructions, he rushed into the air with his equipment. But then he heard one of the soldiers shout: SAVE MANKIND!

Gray huffed and puffed as he continued to hover in the air and the Pure Titans began to make their way into the city. He had to admit... He loved flying around in three-dimensional equipment in dangerous situations! It was so much fun.

But he knew he couldn't stay in this situation forever. If he continued to hover above the danger, he'd be spotted by the army.

Taking the initiative, he spotted a Pure Titan inside the city coming dangerously close to a civilian. Blowing out a breath, he drew one of the eight blades from its scabbard and used his momentum and the speed of his equipment to propel himself at the Titan, slicing the back of its neck before flying off again without stopping.

For a good twenty minutes, he killed Titans. He tried not to kill too many, even though the city was constantly being invaded. Finally, he saw other members of the cadets come out of the barracks and rush into the air to kill Titans.

As he hovered, he heard a presence beside him. He turned round, suspicious, but saw only Reiner flying at the same speed.

- What? shouted Gray, his voice above the wind.

- See if a burst of light appears, understand? That'll be the sign! shouted Reiner.

- No problem, boss! shouted Gray, moving away into the air.

He approached the group he saw on the roof, made up of Eren, Armin, Thomas, Mina and other people from the 104th whom he'd never spoken to.

- Watch your asses! he shouted as he sped past them.

- You too! shouted Thomas.

Gray continued to hover in the air and in the area until he heard a loud noise. He turned his head and saw Eren, one leg missing, standing in the mouth of a Titan in front of a terrified Armin.

Before Gray had time to blink, the Titan's mouth closed on what had been Eren Yeager, leaving only his arm to fall next to the blond.

- Tss, growled Gray. Eren had been relying on rhetoric for over 3 years. He should have known that in the end he'd be eaten like all the others.

He continued to fly in the same way for a good ten minutes, slicing the necks of every Titan he came across. Each one was exterminated by the young soldier.

After a while, as the weather began to cloud over and the rain began to pour down on his head, he saw Jean waving his hand in the distance from a rooftop. Understanding the call signal, Gray rushed to the roof and saw that many members of the 104th were on it. He saw Armin, with a traumatised head against the chimney.

Further away, he saw Reiner, Bertolt, Annie and Marco. Meeting Reiner's gaze, he nodded discreetly. Was that bloody King going to come out of his hole?

Gray waited on the roof for a moment, not really knowing what to do, until Mikasa arrived from the air. She went over to Armin and stood up after a few minutes, glaring at them all.

- This is no time to let your emotions overwhelm you, she muttered.

She started to walk straight ahead, straight to the end of the roof.
