Eric, I am talking to you!”

The Devil has horns, black claws, fur and a sourpuss attitude. Probably a male

But this one chasing after me has cat ears styled into her hair, 3 inch  blood red manis, a  school blazer and a raging temper. And she's a female.

My girlfriend, Tiffany Nolan.

I grip the staircase banister and I narrowly missed a plate aimed at the back of my head. The ceramic crashed on the stairs, shattering into tiny fragments. The sound increased my headache a thousand fold. I winced a little, feeling my fever ripple through my body.

I was really sick and this bitch was after my life, simply because I refused to come to school.

I bent down and began to pick the fragments. I thought of Ellis, the maid that made sure I never worried about anything back at the Official House. She would have dashed to the rescue to clean up the mess.

Including Tiffany.

But we opted for a little more privacy from the press, ever since my twin, Alyssa Daniels, went missing two years ago, hence, living in a private estate away from the  prying eyes of the press. At first, I thought that my parents had decided that just living our normal lives and my dad executing his mayoral duties was okay since it was a lot of political strife that took Alyssa away…

But the older I got, the more I understood that I was the family's reason for being on the low.

Alyssa was the better child and I was not. She was intelligent, beautiful, and had social graces.  She had awards at interstate and national competition and was recognized internationally. She fit in well into my family's social gathering and could have been seen as the only child wherever she went.

Except that Alyssa always tried to carry me along, include me in everything but my parent's indifference towards me still pushed me aside. I was hurt at first but learned not to care.

Alyssa disappeared on our sixteenth birthday. At first I was mad because I thought she wanted to overshadow me with her scandal but her Post-It the next day on my window said otherwise.

Lol, do you think I wanna be here?
Here's no fun, and no, you aren't coming with me :).........................
I'm NEVER coming back and don't show this to mum and dad   ♡Lyssa.

Slowly, when it all began to die down, they tried to mold me into the child Alyssa was. Extra lessons, a change of wardrobe, more social events and trying to make trends with me and Tiffany as a teen  power couple.

But we could never be like Alyssa and Hayate Miller. They were the perfect combination of brains and wits, the perfect power couple that attended many talk shows together to show off their compatibility by being cute, saying the same thing at the same time and denying their relationship status.

Truth be told, Tiffany was the one keeping us perfect in the eyes of the public. She covered up for most of my inadequacies and social awkwardness and I was once grateful for that…but not anymore.

I felt her claws digging into the flesh at the back of my neck and her hot breath on me. I couldn't see, everything was a soft blur of golden lights and white paint with some blotches of red to me. My knees were wobbly and I couldn't breathe.

“I know that you're cheating on me. I know you don't love me!”  She said, mascara tears streaming down her face.

I didn't reply. Telling her I loved her was a mechanical lie, a duty I was supposed to carry to my grave as far as the public image of my parents were concerned.
