Hope (Harry Hook Love)

Chapter 2

I woke up early the next day getting dressed ready to work. Dropping off my medical bag by the door and heading to the kitchen trying to make as many bread rolls as possible that I can to give out. 2 hours later my brown satchel is full of dried food and lots of bread. Harry wakes up and steals a small loaf of bread out of my bag. "What are ye doing up so early lass?" He asks with his mouth full of food.

I roll my eyes at the pirate as he places his muddy boots on the dining table. I grab his bottom boot and toss his feet back to the ground. "My crib, my rules. Rule 1: No feet on the dining table. Rule 2: If you are hungry just grab something you don't need to act all sneaky around here, and I'm up early trying to make enough food to go around but that feat seems impossible. Besides I have to be at Carlos House by 9 to start setup. I'm hoping people show up to help but I'm prepared to do it alone if need be." I say to Harry, pulling out three apples, tossing one to him before taking a bite of the other. "Come on, time to head out. You don't need to come with me, but you can't stay here."

Harry didn't move from his seat, so I stomp towards him and grab the red leather straps on his chest and yank him up pulling him out the door Harry grumbling and complaining the whole way. I stop dragging him when we make it down the stairs. I see Gil coming to us and I throw the apple to him and he catches it with ease. "Good morning Gil, I'll be right back, I have to go back and grab some bags that I left. Keep Harry occupied please since he is determined to make my life 10 times harder than it needs to be."

"Am not!" Harry exclaims Gil just nods his head while I race up the stairs 2 at a time. I grab my satchel and drape it across my chest and lift my duffel in my right hand. I let go and hiss in pain. I guess today is going to be harder than I thought. I lift the bag in my left-hand rush down the stairs. "Okay guys I'm ready let's go." Walking past Gil and harry.

Once I arrive at Carlos House I quickly enter and look at the space that I was given. 2 rooms have been set aside to the right as soon as you enter. One room I will turn into a medical room while I'm seeing patients and the other is a larger narrow room that I will make into overnight beds. A lot of work is needed in both rooms, but I can see the potential. Gil peeks into the room over my shoulder. "Uhh Hope There are some people outside saying that they are here to see you. What should I tell them?"

I place the medical kit down and walk out the door. "Let's go see what kind of help we have." I pull Gil with me and head out seeing Dizzy, Celia, and 4 other kids that appear to be my age or older. "Hey guys, nice to see you all bright and early. I just want to start by thanking you guys for offering your help, because I'm not going to lie, there is a lot of work to be done inside. Before we start though I want you guys to come in and take a look and eat some breakfast. I have apples, bread and some dried fruit and nuts for you guys. I'm going to be drawing on the floor kind of what I see in my head and getting to know you guys as well to figure out where your help would be most useful. So, come on in and grab some grub!" I say with my arms open wide.

Dizzy and Celia are first to come up to me to file in. I hand Dizzy my satchel of food and grab Celia's arm. "So, I don't think I will have time to stop by the arcade today but tomorrow around lunch if that's okay with you and your dad?" She nods her head and follows Dizzy with a small thank you.
