Luna threw herself on the bed after she got home from work. She reached for her phone, which was placed on the bedside table, and scrolled through the messages. She skipped the messages sent by her friends and quickly looked for the one that came from Mira. Upon seeing that Mira had a message, she got excited, rolled on the bed, and hid her face in the pillow. She raised her head, with only her eyes being seen, and opened the message. A few seconds later, her excitement died down quickly.

Mira only said thanks for the gift. It was short and simple, which was Mira's style. However, Luna somehow felt through the message that Mira sounded distant and not particularly happy. Luna frowned and touched the screen of her phone absentmindedly. She felt uncomfortable. She looked at the time, and it was already 10 in the evening, meaning Mira was currently at the company. So, even if she wanted to talk to Mira right now, she knew she would only disturb her.

Luna took a deep breath to calm herself down, thinking that she might be overthinking it. She replied to Mira and then lay down again. She read and scrolled for a moment before putting down her phone to sleep. But after 5 minutes, she still couldn't get rid of that uncomfortable feeling, so she decided to call her mother.

The phone rang for a few seconds before it was answered.

"Luna?"

"Mom~"

"Miss me?"

"Yes,"

"Are you at home now?"

"Yes,"

"Alright, you should take a rest now, we won't stay long here,"

"Mom, Mira received my gift right?"

"Yeah, I have it earlier,"

Luna played with a strand of her hair and asked hesitantly, "Then.. what's her reaction? Did she like it?"

Lilith narrowed her eyes as she doubted her daughter's feelings for Mira. She could feel that Luna seemed nervous, although she had some doubts, she set them aside and comforted Luna first, "Don't worry, she likes the gift you sent,"

"Did she say anything?" Luna asked again

"Nothing," Lilith answered. She didn't say that Mira looked a little unhappy when she took the gift so as not to hurt her daughter's feelings.

"I see," Luna breathed a sigh of relief, 'I might be really overthinking it, maybe Mira is just tired when she sent the message.'

Luna finally comforted herself and managed to fall asleep.

......

"What did Luna say?" Maria asked

"Asking about Mira's reaction about the gift,"

"Did Mira say something to her?"

"I don't know, but maybe there is, or else she wouldn't be so worried,"

Maria nodded in agreement. Lilith glanced at Maria, then she coughed twice to get Maria's attention.

"What's wrong with you?" Maria asked as she heard Lilith coughing

"Nothing. By the way, how about we go out and sightsee? Then buy some souvenirs we can take home," Lilith suggested

Maria didn't agree immediately, then she looked at her phone. Her eyes suddenly brightened with a wide smile. She received a reply from Liona, informing her that she came to the US to visit Mira. She invited her for dinner, and it just so happened that Liona was on her way home from somewhere and replied that she agreed.

"Ari?" Lilith asked. She looked at how wide Maria's smile was and felt uncomfortable. 'I'm obviously talking to her, but she didn't answer instead she looked at her phone.'

Maria looked up at Lilith. She could see the dissatisfaction that was written all over her face, "Lilith, how about tomorrow? Let's go to the grocery first and buy some ingredients. My friend who helps Mira is on her way here, and I invited her earlier, and I just received her reply. I will introduce her to you later, she's good and funny, you will definitely like her too,"

Lilith was really dissatisfied. She only wanted to be alone with Maria, but there were a lot of obstacles. She liked Maria, and over the years, she thought it had long gone, but when the misunderstanding had been solved, she saw hope again. She doubted if Maria didn't understand her intention and deliberately doing things unnecessarily.

Lilith took a deep breath and instead of holding back, she voiced out what she wanted, "Ari, I only want to be alone with you. We have a lot of years that need to catch up, don't you feel the same?"

Maria already knew that Lilith didn't have a husband now and seeing her obvious intention, she didn't know what to say. She liked Lilith before, but after what happened to her, she already accepted everything that they were impossible. Even now, she felt that she wasn't worthy of Lilith's love and care, and maybe her feelings too for Lilith were not the same now like before. She could only see and treat Lilith as a sister, and if more than that, she knew she wouldn't be able to respond. Maybe because the knot in her heart had been solved she's contented now on what relationship they have.

Maria thought for a moment then said, "We have a lot of time ahead, but coming here is rare," she decided not to think too much now about romance, she felt that they were too old for it now.

Lilith felt hopeless and thought that maybe Maria didn't like her now like she used to be. She shook her head, denying it, thinking that maybe they just needed a little more time again to get back to how close they were.

"Alright, let's go to the grocery, but tomorrow let's go out," Lilith said as she compromised.

Maria smiled and nodded. Thankfully the grocery wasn't that far and could be reached by walking. The grocery here was quite big, which was really convenient as everything you needed could be seen here. Maria and Lilith looked around. Lilith pulled the cart while Maria chose what to buy. They didn't take long from grocery and quickly went back to the apartment.
