Chapter 8 - always the same

Austin took Dana into a private run clinic, everyone knew him and either nodded or smiled as he entered. He walked up to the receptionist. "I need someone to take a look at this woman for me."

"Right away Sir." She said and quickly made a phone call.
Dana stood next to him. "Someone will be here in a second, can I just take some details." The receptionist added.

As Dana gave her details Austin walked over to Zoe who was looking out of the window. "She'll be seen in a second or two, are you okay?."

"I'm not a fan of hospitals. Can I wait in the car."

"Sure, here." He handed her the keys and watched her walk out.

Dana sat in the waiting room. Austin walked over to her. "Look, I'm gonna go and wait with Zoe..

She touched his arm. "Please come in with me.. I don't wanna go by myself."

He sighed, but he nodded and sat next to her. "Why do you stay with him, if you're not happy?."

"I don't know, he's my husband I guess.. this feels crazy, I don't even know you and you're here helping me out..

"My mama was in an abusive relationship, I stopped that and I don't believe in it.. it makes me angry because I've seen enough of it." He told her.

"About my sister, I'm sorry she's so forward and outspoken..

"She Aite!."

"Me and her are different, I don't think she knows how to be in a relationship, she doesn't understand them.. where as me I'm full of love and have loads to give, I just need the right man to love me back." She said and lowered her head to look at the floor.

Austin lifted her chin and turned her to face him. "You'll find him."

Zoe could see through the glass doors straight into the waiting room. She grew mad inside, she got in the driver's seat of the pristine phantom and she started the engine. She gritted her teeth and banged her hands on the steering wheel. "It's always the same, always the same." She repeated. She banged her fist to her lips hard over and over as her OCD kicked in.

She got out of the car and left the keys on the seat, she started walking. She didn't care about the cold. See, all of her life her sister had always stolen her men. This was something that Dana saw no harm in. 5 men that had originally dated Zoe in total had succumbed to her sister's charms and gone off with her. Jeremy was one of those also. Dana blamed her sister's OCD, but her OCD only flared up since her sister had been helping herself to her men. Now she was doing it with Austin. She got back to her apartment which was a 5 minute walk from the clinic. She walked inside and sat on the sofa her arms folded across her chest, she just stared ahead.

After 20 minutes both Dana and Austin left the clinic together heading for the car. Austin's windows were tinted and as he opened the door to get in, he saw the keys on his seat and Zoe was gone. "Where the hell is yo sister?." He said angry that she had just left his keys in the car and the doors unlocked.

Dana sighed. "I'm sorry, she always does this.. I did tell you, she is very awkward in relationships.. you're a busy man, you really wouldn't have the time to deal with my sister and her complexities." She said to him.

Austin was also beginning to think that he had jumped the gun in wanting to take her on a date, she was very flippant, he was taken in by the way she fucked with him but on second thoughts she seemed to hard to handle, especially judging by what he had already seen and what her sister had told him. "You're probably right, I am too busy a man to deal with someone with complex issues..I'm not known for the greatest of patience myself.. we would probably fight and argue, that's not good for her." He said, justifying it to himself.

Dana smiled. "Well I better get home, though I am dreading it..

Austin looked at her. "Stay at my place, I don't want you to go back there.. call yo sister though, I need to know she's ok." He told her.

Dana picked up her cell, she knew herself that she had done this to her sister a fair few times before. She pretended to call her and saw by her GPS find my phone app that she was already at home, she made it look as if she was talking to her and then she put her cell away and got in the car, next to Austin.
He looked at her. "Is she okay?."

"Yeah, she said to apologise to you.. she got cold feet.. like I knew she would..

He furrowed his brow. "She instigated sex with me, and now she's got cold feet for a damn dinner date!! What the fuck is with that?." He said slightly irate. "I ain't into playing games, tell her that when you see her next!."

"Did you book some place for dinner?." Dana asked.

"Yeah, but it's cool, I can cancel." He said.

"It seems a shame to waste the reservation.. don't you think, and I can really do with cheering up." She said to him.

He smiled. "Aite.. we'll head there now."

Zoe showered for the second time since she had been home. She was just about to go in for a third when she heard a knock at the door. She wrapped her towel around her and her silk robe around that and walked down to open the door. She looked out of the window and saw Jeremy on her doorstep. She opened up and looked at him "she isn't here."

"Zoe, Let me talk to you for a minute..I was harsh and I was wrong for hitting Dana too..

"I don't want to talk to you. Why would I?. You and Dana should probably call it a day, you're a toxic combination." She was about to shut the door and he put his foot in it.

"No, you don't understand. I was wrong to overlook you for her..

"You want to come in here so you can fuck your feelings about her into me? What better way to get back at her than to fuck her sister.. there was a time when I may have wanted you, but that ship sailed the minute you messed with my sister and cast me aside. Get your foot outta my door or I won't be held responsible."

Jeremy sniggered. "Girl what are you gonna do...

Zoe grabbed him and kicked him in his gut, as he fell to the floor with the pain from the hard kick, she placed her foot on his throat. "This is just for starters, next time I ask you to remove yourself from my door, you know what to do" she said and shut the door going back inside.
