chapter 17(Akira-pov)

When I arrived at university the following day, everyone was staring at me with intense curiosity. Even though I attract stares, today is a little different. These looks make me feel a little strange, but I'm going to ignore it nevertheless.

I had two classes in the morning. After completing them both, I headed to the cafeteria. Someone tall collided with me as I was getting close to the cafeteria. I squinted, looked up, and backed away from him a little.

The person in front of me said, "Hello, I'm Cade. Could you please give me a little of your time?" "What?" I looked at him doubtfully.Perhaps he recognised my dubious appearance immediately, which is why he quickly explained that he had no malicious intent.

I agreed with him after giving it some thinking, and he led me to an empty hallway nearby where he invited me to sit wherever I wanted. He said"Actually I wanted to ask you something." "What? " I questioned "What is your relationship with my brother?" When he enquired, I looked at him bewildered and said, "Brother? " "Yeah, I saw you leaving with my brother the other day," he replied, "I mean, competition day"I asked him bluntly, "Are you talking about Damein?" after being silent for a few minutes to consider what he was asking.He nods in agreement, and then I knew what an idiot I was. His face somewhat resembles Mother Sora; it's not noticeable from a distance, but if we look carefully, we can see the resemblance.

Damein and I discussed that we would not reveal our relationship status for the time being, but it wouldn't hurt to tell his own brother, so I remained silent for the time being because I wasn't sure how to respond. I murmured, exhaling, "We.. Uhh.. Are friends" "Friends?" Upon hearing my response, he smirked and went on, "I mean, his friends are my guests, so feel free to ask me anything at any time".

I spoke with Cade for a while and got to know him better. Based on the way he speaks, he seems like a nice guy.

Later, I rushed to the cafeteria and was surprised to see my half brother Alex and Jay eating lunch. I'm not sure why my brother was there, but there seems to be an awkward dynamic between them.

To get their attention, I coughed a little and sat next to Jay. As I sat there, they both said "hello" and hurried away to stillness. "Guys Is something wrong?" I asked, waiting for both of their responses. Jay responded, "Nothing. He just protected me from bullies, which is why I'm treating him lunch. I mean, even if he hadn't done that, I would have beaten their ass up"After that, Alex also said, "Yeah, I happened to see him because I was just passing by". "Ohh ok" I sent them a sidelong glance before shovelling food into my lips.

I asked Jay if there was something wrong, but he continued saying nothing. Jay is usually a chatterbox, but today he was acting strange. In any case, I might have to drag him to tell me afterwards.

Alex and I went home after class. My parents were constantly talking and worried, but I adore it because it shows that they are concerned.I grinned at them and informed them that I would be telling them about Damein, so they should wait until supper for a surprise.

I went to my room, showered, and lay down on my bed. We are definitely soulmates; I mean, it's obvious now. I pulled up my phone to message Damein, but by chance, I got a call from him.

[Damein:Hi sweetheart]

[Akira:hi]

[Damein:How was your day? ]

[Akira:I had a good day. How about yours?]

[Damein:Even though mine was hellish, hearing your voice makes me feel awesome. I really miss you.]

[Akira:Duh cheesy, ohh I met your brother today and he was asking about us I mean what our relationship and stuffs]

[Damein: And what did you say? ]

[Akira:I said we were friends]

[Damein: ........]

[Damein: But friends don't know the way you taste]

[Akira: Damein!!!]

After a few more hours of conversation, Damein and I hang up. When I informed him about my surprise for my parents, he seemed really pleased. I started to head downstairs while still in my pyjamas, but I heard murmurs coming from my parent's room.

I hurried over to knock on their door, but during the conversation, I overheard my mother and father saying, "Emily said she will break their bond, so I've told Alex to stay away from him because it will make things more difficult. We need to do something."

Aunty Emily? Jay's mother? , why would she break mate bond? Does That implies that Jay and Alex are mates? Indeed, that explains why they were acting strangely. But why our parents would want to break the mate link,it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I shivered as I rushed upstairs to my room, wondering if my parents would disapprove of my mate. No one will say no to Damein Morell King, yet the thought of what might happen makes me incredibly afraid. After giving this some thought, I've chosen not to tell my parents anything because I'm now somewhat afraid. For now, I'll just inform them about my internship.
I'm hoping I'm making the proper choice.

A knock outside sent shivers down my spine as I was about to head back downstairs. I decided to ignore it because I was afraid my parents would know I heard them, but as I was heading to bed, I heard a voice that never really came to my door.

"Akira?"

Alex?
