this chapter is now complete :) sorry it took me a while, had my first day of uni yesterday! was up at 5:30am after a weekend of work. lol. #help #imsotired #butyayuni
Neither you nor Fred mentioned Cillian again. You'd have thought the boy was invisible to Fred, or that they were perhaps the same person, since you never saw them in the same room. Ever. In the two weeks that led up to Valentine's Day, your conversational topics with the Weasley twins never strayed from fireworks or Filch or acid pops, or- much to your surprise- studying.
Though it was relatively easy to keep the conversations light and avoidant: as the days trickled by and the mock O.W.Ls grew closer, it got harder to keep up appearances. Between juggling studying with Ishani, Hermione insisting on quizzing you (where did that girl find the time?), Quidditch practice, spending time with Felis, tending to Buckbeak and trying to cheer up Hagrid, you found yourself with about five seconds every day to see Fred and George.
It felt strange, to see so little of your best friends. It felt like walking past a mirror and only seeing half a body. But, you did have to admit, seeing less of Fred made it easier on your heart.
The double date had indeed been planned to happen on the 14th of February, as Selene confirmed at lunch. She wistfully started talking about how the four of you could colour coordinate, wearing reds and pinks.
"Over my dead body," Cillian snorted, folding his arms as Selene insisted he wear a barbie-pink jumper for the occasion.
"That can very easily be arranged," Selene retorted, narrowing her eyes at him. Her fingers twitched on the knife she held in her hand.
"She's not joking, Cillian," you said. You leaned over and pried the cutlery out of her fist, laying it far away from her on the table. Oliver nodded, pecking her lightly on the cheek.
"Can confirm. She's mental, my girl," he laughed, looking at Selene with such affection you didn't bother trying to hide a grimace. You exchanged a look with Cillian. This double date was going to be full of mush.
With the little time you had left in the evenings, you made sure to dedicate some time to writing to your father. You'd curl up on a plush desk chair in your common room, Felis curled up in your lap and purring away contently. With one hand scratching his ears as he drifted off to sleep, you'd scribble away with an old, battered quill.
Dad,
You wrote, about three days before Valentine's.
Have you looked in the dryer for your striped shirt? I told you, the colour is too similar to the drum and you're slowly becoming as blind as a bat. Just kidding, I love you. But seriously, get your eyes checked.
I'm okay, thank you. Felis is happier than ever these days. Everyone loves to bring him treats and give him far more attention that he needs. I'm going to have to put him on a diet.
I start my mock exams soon. It's scary. They start the week after Valentine's and I feel very underprepared, even though I've been studying more than I blink. Oh, speaking of Valentine's- did I tell you? I'm going on a double date to Hogsmeade. No, it's not a real date, Dad, keep your hair on.
But I'm looking forward to it. Should be nice. Gives me a break from Homework, at least. I can't believe my actual O.W.Ls will be starting in four months. Terrifying.
Anyway, love you lots. I hope you're not having too much fun in the house without me and Felis there to keep you in check. Remember, don't have the party music too loud!
A bushel and a peck,

The next day, Errol crashed through a huge window in the Great Hall, squawking and shrieking as he tumbled through the air and landed in a coffee pot with a huge splash.
