18. Uncomfortable

Sunghoon's heart raced at the sudden, unexpected kiss. The warmth of Sunoo's cheek still lingered against his neck, and he struggled to keep his expression neutral as he carried the younger back to his palace. It was unlike anything he had experienced before-this feeling that now fluttered in his chest, confusing yet somehow comforting. The soft, innocent gesture of affection had left him both stunned and content, as if a boundary between them had been crossed, but in a way that felt right.

As they approached Sunghoon's palace, the evening light painted the sky in hues of orange and purple. Sunoo still clung to the prince, shyly hiding his face, as if trying to escape the embarrassment of his own boldness. Sunghoon found it endearing, though. He slowed his pace, savoring the peaceful moment between them.

When they arrived, Sunghoon looked at the younger in his arms, his gaze soft. "We're back," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Sunoo peeked up at him, his cheeks still flushed but with a playful glint in his eyes. "Thank you, Prince." His voice was small , but filled with sincerity.

Sunghoon nodded, his composure returning, though his mind was still reeling from the kiss. He wondered what Sunoo thought of it-was it a simple gesture of gratitude, or did it mean something more? Sunghoon wasn't one to easily dwell on emotions, but with Sunoo, it seemed unavoidable.

They stepped inside, and the familiar comfort of Sunghoon's quarters surrounded them. The palace felt different now, as if the brief escape to the garden had created a subtle shift in the atmosphere.

Sunghoon entered his bedroom and placed Sunoo on his bed carefully.

Just then they heard footsteps approaching Sunghoon's room. They looked towards the door and noticed Niki standing by the door frame. He entered and slightly bowed towards Sunghoon. He looked at Sunoo with a smile and sat beside him .

Sunoo felt himself getting tensed, the words of the queen coming to his mind. He didn't want to upset Niki but he couldn't muster up the courage to speak to him anymore knowing that the queen didn't like him being near her son.

Sunoo looked down trying not to look at Niki's face. Niki could feel that something was wrong and asked "Is everything alright foxy? Why do seem so off today? Are you not feeling well? Even in the morning you were just looking down without saying much"

Sunoo could feel the genuine concern in Niki's voice however he didn't look at him. He sat stiff in his place, his body tensed. Niki waited for him to say something. All this being observed by Sunghoon silently.

Niki tried to grab Sunoo's hand however the younger quickly pulled his hand back. The elder was a bit taken aback. "Are you uncomfortable around me?" he asked, his voice a bit stunned.

He noticed a tear escaping the younger's eye and thought that it was indeed his presence that made the younger uncomfortable. He quickly stood up and said "I am really sorry I didn't know I made you feel uncomfortable...I will just leave.. please don't cry"

Niki quickly turned back and made his way towards the door. However Sunoo suddenly said "Prince no.." He quickly stood up from the bed and tried to walk towards him forgetting about his own leg injuries. He fell to the ground as he felt the pain in his leg.

Sunghoon quickly rushed towards him and Niki looked back stunned at the sight infront of him. He quickly went near them and picked Sunoo up and carefully placed him on the bed

"P-prince you didn't make me u-uncomfortable, am sorry I d-didn't mean to make you upset....I...I didn't intend to make you feel that way" Sunoo cried and hugged the elder.

"It's fine calm down..am fine.. just calm down" Niki patted his head trying to calm the wailing younger in his arms. Sunghoon sat near Sunoo's feet as he checked his wounds. Luckily none of the wounds opened up.

After a while the younger calmed down and fell asleep on Niki's arms while hugging him. Niki carefully layed his head on the pillow and covered him with a blanket. He looked towards Sunghoon and said "What is happening Hyung? Why is he reacting this way?"

Sunghoon explained everything to him regarding the incident that happened with the queen. Niki was shocked learning what had happened and stood up from his place going out with a serious expression.

Sunghoon looked at him and sighed. He looked towards Sunoo and sat beside him. He caressed his cheek wiping the tears that had stained his face. He placed a soft kiss on his forehead and continued sitting beside him while caressing his head.
