As the gentle breeze rustled through the trees, carrying with it the scent of autumn leaves, the girl gazed out of the window. The world outside seemed calm, bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun. The warmth of the light on her face, combined with the cool touch of the breeze, brought a sense of quiet contentment.
As Karayami gazed out the window, feeling the gentle breeze against her face, she let her mind wander, basking in the rare moment of tranquility.
"Karayami!" The sound of her name being called broke through her thoughts.
She sighed deeply, pulling herself away from the window and the peaceful silence that had been shattered. The fleeting moment of calm was now replaced with the usual commotion that surrounded her.
"Or it was peaceful..." she muttered under her breath, knowing that serenity never lasted long in her world.
Her eyes flicked toward the source of the noise, wondering what was in store for her next.
Karayami raised an eyebrow at Liminne's dramatic flair, watching as the new group of students shuffled into the room. They were younger, maybe a little nervous, but clearly curious. Their Western dance style was a stark contrast to the elegant, precise choreography Karayami and her team had been perfecting for weeks.
Karayami sighed. "Minne, are we really sharing our practice space with them? It's already crowded enough."
Liminne—Minne, as she insisted—grinned and shrugged casually. "Yup! Apparently, the instructors thought it would be a good idea to... 'foster collaboration' or something like that. But don't worry, they're not in our dance."
Karayami glanced at the new students again. "I don't mind sharing space, but it better not mess with our practice time. We're too close to competition."
Minne waved her hand dismissively, still brimming with her usual energy. "Relax, Kami. They'll be on the other side of the room, doing their own thing. Plus, you and I both know nothing messes with our dance. We're unbeatable."
Karayami couldn't help but smile at her friend's confidence, but there was a flicker of concern. The tension of their upcoming performance weighed on her, and even if the Western dancers weren't competing against them, it felt like another variable thrown into the mix.
"Alright, but let's stay focused," Karayami replied, her voice more serious now. "We can't afford any distractions."
"Focused? Pfft. We were born for this," Minne said, flipping her hair dramatically as if to emphasize her point.
As the new dancers began to warm up, Karayami felt that same familiar itch to perfect every move, to ensure their routine was flawless. But now, with this new group in the room, there was a strange shift in the atmosphere. One she couldn't quite put her finger on.
Karayami leaned against the wall, her arms crossed, a skeptical look plastered across her face. "Oh... I see. But why are they here during our practice time?"
Liminne sighed, exasperation creeping into her voice. "As I've already explained, they'll be practicing with us too. Our dance is almost complete, while they haven't even started. We can help them, you know."
Karayami raised an eyebrow, the corners of her lips tugging downward in a smirk. "Hmm... Not 'we,' but 'you.'"
"Kami... Why?" Liminne's brow furrowed, concern mingling with irritation.
With a dramatic flourish, Karayami shrugged. "As you already know, I'm too lazy to help. I'm sick of my own dance and honestly don't even know how I ended up here. So, no, don't expect me to assist."
