There it was, the island of living history. It was beautiful, full of life and death. It reminded me of my old home, I could tell Night felt the same. As we flew over to the docks I couldn't help but marvel at it all, feeling nostalgic to a place long gone...a memory.
Kinro landed the helicopter on the dock, opening the door and letting me and Night out while he grabbed my bags. I hated the pampering, but he was insistent.
As I looked around, I noticed that we were the first ones here, there was no one.
"Kinro, you can leave, we can handle ourselves." I said to him, while he put my stuff in the parked truck with seats lining the bed.
"I know you can, sir." He said while turning to me, and looking down on me. Momentarily, his fancy professional tone turned to a more personal and caring one.
"Just, please be careful. It would break my heart if something should happen to you."He placed his hand on my head."And do try to make friends." After that he bowed and loaded up in the helicopter. I waved to him as he left, a small smile on my face. Kinro has always been more of a parent for me than my father, and even though I hate to admit it, I care about him too.

After Kinro left, I loaded into the truck, sitting closest to the opening in the back. It's easier to get away from danger if you're not cornered against the cab. I whistled to Night and he jumped up, laying underneath my seat and behind my feet. Once we got settled, I pulled out a 3d printed raptor larynx. There's no way I didn't do any research before I came here, it's a dangerous place, and I always come prepared. I just messed around with that as Night went to sleep.
"Now we wait...."

It was around twenty minutes later when the boat arrived with five of the six other campers. One was barfing over the side of the dock, one was recording everything, and the other three weren't really doing anything noticeable. There was also the counselor, Dave. He was annoying to say the least. Roxxie on the other hand, I think I can stand her. All of them were talking about something I didn't really care to pay attention to. That was until another helicopter arrived and this guy, who was clearly spoiled and cocky, hopped out, throwing his bag at Roxxie to carry.
She immediately threw it back at him, knocking him over. I couldn't help but smirk at this, I already didn't like that guy, and I was warming up to Roxxie.
"Alright! That's everybody, let's get you seven to camp!" Dave said to everyone, but this boy with dark skin interrupted.
"Um, there's only six of us." I figured this would be as good a chance as any to bring myself into the photo. It's not like I'm gonna talk or befriend them, but I should let them know I'm here. Watching them, I slowly brought the raptor larynx to my mouth, smirking slightly before I blew in it, making everyone jump and scream, aside from Roxxie. They all turned to me with wide eyes, then realized what had happened when I waved the larynx around.
"Right here, Dave" I said while leaning abc against the truck and turning to face the other side, facing my back to the terrified people.
"Uh, alright. Load up then" Dave said, still shaken. On his command, everyone else loaded up in the truck. I made sure no one accidentally stepped on Night's tail, since I'm one hundred percent sure no one knew he was there. Before Roxxie got in the drivers seat, she walked up to me and whispered in my ear.
"Don't you have a-" I cut her off by signaling below my seat. She looked down and her eyes widened slightly when she saw Night, but she just nodded in return.
"Nevermind." I'm assuming she was the one who had to set things up for Night, which is why she knows about him.

Right after, we headed off, the truck jerking forward. Everyone got tossed around and quickly buckled up. I didn't though. It takes too long to unbuckle, it's safer to go without incase you need to get away fast.

"Alright everyone! I need you to tell me who you are and something about you!" said the girl with pink hair, shoving her phone in everyone's face. She pointed it at me and I just turned away, ignoring her. She didn't seem happy, but moved on to the boy across from me.
"Um, I'm Darius and I won this Vr game to get here!" He said to the camera before a girl with a headband interrupted, fangirling over the one with pink hair. After that, everyone introduced themselves. The pinkette is Brooklynn, the country girl is Sammy, the richboy is Kenji, the barfbag is Ben, the athlete is Yazmina, and the dino nerd is Darius.
After everyone else did their introduction, they all turned to me, staring. I really didn't want to talk to them, but the staring was making me very uncomfortable, and Night could tell. I could feel his tail wrap around my ankle, which did help me calm down slightly.
"Well, who are you?" Brooklynn asked, holding the phone up. I looked away from her facing the back of the truck and staring at the road behind us. She thought I ignored her again, but I decided to bite the bullet and talk.
"I'm Y/n, and this is Nightmare." everyone seemed pleased with my name then, the other half of what i said finally processed.
"Who-" Kenji was about to ask, when I smirked and snapped my finger. On my command, Night jumped out and pounced on Kenji, growling. I chuckled, as everyone screamed, moving away from him. I even felt the truck sway as Roxxie realized it was just us.
"He is Nightmare. I clicked my tongue and Night came back to me, sitting by my feet and purring while I scratched his chin.
"Y-you...have a black panther!?" Darius yelled while staring at the two of us. I just nodded to him like it was nothing. Then before any more questions could be asked, the truck stopped. Dave and Roxxie climbed out of the truck with zappers in hand, everything went silent and everyone else started to freak out. I looked down at Night and saw that he was totally chill, which meant we were in any real danger.
Then, as everything went silent, out from the bushes jumped a compy. I leaped right onto Darius's chest, knocking him back and directly into my lap. I was not a huge fan of the physical contact, but I was mesmerized by the compy. As everyone stared at it, I slowly reached my arms around Darius before I grabbed it by its body and lifted it up. Darius climbed off of me and Roxxie walked over to the back with a blanket in hand. She was going to grab it, but saw that I already had everything under control. I set it on my lap, gently petting its head while it layed down, letting out a reptilian version of a purr.
"Hey, beautiful, how would you like the name Ivy?" I asked softly, my tone a complete one eighty form how it was earlier. Ivy cooed in response, liking the name and I just smiled until Dave walked around with the carrier.
"Sorry, girl, but you've gotta go home."she looked up at me as she stood up, then nodded in understanding before leaping into the carrier.  Everyone seemed rather shocked, even Dave and Roxxie. Dave carried her to the cab of the truck.
"What, I'm good with animals." I said to everyone while I pet Night again, acting as if everything was all normal.
"Sorry everyone, these guys are always getting out of their enclosures. Thanks Y/n." Roxxie said, going back to driving.
"That was a real life compsognathus!" Darius started to fangirl while staring at me in admiration, it made me uncomfortable.
"Oh please it took a cat carrier to catch it" Kenji scoffed while rolling his eyes.
"Scared you pretty good," Darius said, embarrassing Kenji. After that all of us rode to camp without issue. Everyone else talked while I chose to keep to myself, but I could very easily tell that someone was staring at me, or maybe multiple someones.

Once we arrived at camp, we all hopped off the truck and approached the giant tree. It was magnificent and huge. We all stopped and stared, but my awe was more hidden than everyone else. Roxxie and Dave walked in font of us, deciding to pull out the theatrics.
