Chapter Six

__

Days bled into weeks, and the silence between Gemini and Prom stretched on, a heavy, uncomfortable weight hanging in the air. Even Winny, who had never been one to shy away from confrontation, found himself at a loss. Prom's avoidance was a cold, impenetrable wall, and

Winny, despite his usual boisterous nature, felt a pang of concern for his friend.

But amidst the tension, a different kind of warmth bloomed. Gemini and Fourth, once separated by a chasm of fear and misunderstanding, were now inseparable. Their friendship, born from a shared vulnerability and a genuine desire for connection, had blossomed into something

beautiful.

Just yesterday, they had presented their project, their voices blending seamlessly as they explained their research. The professor, a stern woman known for her high standards, had smiled, her eyes twinkling with approval. "Excellent work, gentlemen," she had said, her voice filled with a rare warmth. "You clearly understand the material and have worked together

exceptionally well."

The praise had been a balm to Gemini's soul. He had always excelled in his studies, but this time, it felt different. The success felt sweeter, knowing he had achieved it alongside Fourth. The project had been a catalyst, a bridge that had finally connected them.

After class, the group had gathered at Ford's house, a cozy haven filled with the scent of home-cooked meals and the warmth of shared laughter. They had brought barbecue and pastas, Winny even bringing chilled drinks, and the night deepened along with their conversations.

Satang, ever observant, spoke, "I notice Prom has been avoiding you two... Is it because of us?"Winny and Gemini exchanged glances, the unspoken question hanging in the air. Gemini heaved a sigh, his shoulders slumping slightly. "I don't know, man. He seems different now."

The truth was, Gemini was scared. Prom was more than just a best friend; he was a protector, a shield against the world's harshness. He was the one who had saved Gemini from the bullies in high school, the one who had taught him to fight back, the one who had been there for him when his own father had turned violent.

The memory of that day, etched in Gemini's mind, was a painful one. He had come home after a singing competition, the taste of victory bittersweet, knowing he had come in second place to Satang. His father, a man who had always expected perfection, had erupted in rage, his words cutting deeper than any physical blow.

Prom had been there, stepping in front of Gemini, his eyes blazing with anger. He had learned about the pressure Gemini was under, the constant fear that hung over his life. From that day on, Prom had become more than just a friend; he had become a guardian, a protector against the darkness.

Now, seeing Prom avoid him, felt like a betrayal, a rejection of the bond they had forged. Gemini was hurt, confused, and scared. He valued their friendship more than anything, but at the same time, he couldn't deny the growing connection he felt with Fourth.

The conversation grew even deeper until the drinks ran out and they all decided to go sleep.

Ford was sleeping with Satang again, and Winny was on the couch whilst Gemini and Fourth are both on the floor. But Fourth decided to go to the balcony to get some fresh air and let everyone to sleep.

But on his shock, Gemini followed him. "Why aren't you sleeping? You're not drunk yet?" Gemini asked and chuckled earning a smile from Fourth who shook his head before responding,"Not yet."

The two sat down looking out of nowhere, the comfortable silence engulfing them into relaxation. For once, Fourth felt safe around Gemini. Not like before, his knees will tremble and his heart will race out of fear knowing Gemini is close, but tonight is different.
