Chapter 20

The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Jamie stood on the balcony of their cosy apartment, a nervous excitement coursing through him. The past year had been a whirlwind of adventure, and he wanted to celebrate not just their love, but the next step in their journey together.

Fairy lights twinkled overhead, casting a soft glow against the evening sky. A small table adorned with candles and a bouquet of Black Dahlias—a flower that had become significant in their relationship—set the mood for what he hoped would be a magical moment.

As he heard the door slide open, Jamie took a deep breath. "Out here!" he called, trying to mask his nerves. Sienna's footsteps echoed softly, and when she stepped onto the balcony, her face lit up in surprise.

"Wow, Jamie! This is incredible!" she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling as she took in the romantic setup.

"I wanted to do something special for us," he said, a smile breaking through his anxiety. "Can you believe it's been over a year since we graduated? So much has changed, and yet it feels like we've just begun."

She nodded, her expression softening as she moved closer. "I love everything we've shared—the travels, the late-night talks, all of it."

Jamie poured two glasses of sparkling cider, his heart racing. "To us, and to all our adventures ahead," he toasted, clinking their glasses together. As they sipped, he felt a surge of determination. It was now or never.

After a moment of light conversation, he took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his chest. "Sienna, I've been thinking a lot about our journey. You've changed my life in ways I never expected. You make me want to be better, to explore more, and to dream bigger."

"Jamie, what are you—"

"I want to make a promise to you," he interrupted gently. "A promise that goes beyond what we've already built. I love you, and I can't imagine my life without you by my side."

He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small velvet box. Sienna's eyes widened in surprise. "Is that...?"

With shaky hands, he opened the box, revealing a delicate ring that sparkled in the dim light. "Sienna, will you marry me?"

Silence fell as Sienna's eyes filled with tears. The world around them seemed to fade away. "Oh my gosh, Jamie..." Her voice trembled, caught between disbelief and joy.

"I know this is sudden, but I want to spend my life with you. You are my everything," he continued, his heart racing as he awaited her response.

"Yes! Yes, I'll marry you!" Sienna shouted, her face lighting up with happiness. Jamie slipped the ring onto her finger, relief flooding through him as they embraced tightly, the city skyline shimmering in the background.

"I can't believe this is happening!" Sienna laughed, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. "You've made me the happiest person in the world."

As they stood together on the balcony, wrapped in each other's arms, Jamie knew they were stepping into a beautiful new chapter of their lives. The promise of a shared future filled him with hope and excitement, and he couldn't wait to explore it all with Sienna by his side.
