||10|| - Picnic
—————————————————————————
Evan had been mysterious all week, dropping hints about a surprise he was planning for Saturday. I was curious but also excited, feeling a mix of anticipation and nervousness. As the day approached, I wondered what he had in store for me.
Saturday arrived, and I woke up to the sun streaming through my dormitory window, illuminating the room in a warm glow. I felt a rush of excitement, knowing I'd be spending the day with Evan. After getting ready, I threw on a comfortable outfit—an oversized sweater and my favorite jeans—and spent a little extra time on my hair, wanting to look nice for whatever he had planned.
When I arrived at the Great Hall for breakfast, I spotted Evan sitting at a table toward the back, away from the usual crowd of Gryffindors. He looked up and smiled when he saw me, and I couldn't help but smile back. As I approached, he stood up and leaned in, planting a quick kiss on my cheek. My heart fluttered at the gesture.
"Hey, you," he said, his voice light and playful. "Ready for today?"
"Ready as I'll ever be. What's the surprise?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity.
Evan chuckled, shaking his head. "Not yet! You'll just have to wait and see. But trust me, you're going to love it."
After breakfast, Evan led me out of the castle and toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest. The path was dappled with sunlight filtering through the leaves, creating a beautiful pattern on the ground. I felt a thrill of adventure coursing through me as we walked side by side, our hands interlocked.
As we continued down the path, the sounds of the castle faded away, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the occasional chirp of birds. It felt peaceful, like we were in our own little world. I glanced at Evan, who seemed both excited and a bit nervous. "Are you sure you're not going to give me any hints?" I teased.
He smirked, shaking his head again. "Nope, that would ruin the fun. Just trust me."
After a short walk, we finally reached a small clearing surrounded by trees. In the center was a cozy setup—a picnic blanket spread out on the grass, adorned with a basket overflowing with treats and a couple of cushions. A small, portable record player sat nearby, already playing soft, instrumental music that added to the serene atmosphere.
"Wow, Evan! This is amazing!" I exclaimed, my eyes widening in surprise. "You did all this?"
He nodded, a proud grin spreading across his face. "I thought it would be nice to escape for a bit and enjoy a little picnic together. I made sure to pack all your favorites."
I rushed over to the blanket and sat down, instantly drawn to the assortment of food laid out before me. There were sandwiches, a selection of fresh fruit, and even a few chocolate frogs. "This looks incredible," I said, feeling touched by his effort. "You really went all out."
Evan joined me on the blanket, pulling out the sandwiches and handing me one. "Only the best for you," he replied with a wink.
As we settled in and began to eat, the conversation flowed easily between us. We talked about everything—from our classes to our favorite Quidditch teams—laughter punctuating the air as we shared stories and jokes. I felt completely at ease, the worries of school and friendships fading away.
After we finished eating, I leaned back on my elbows, basking in the sun and the warmth of the moment. "You really know how to surprise a girl," I said, glancing over at him with a smile.
