||11|| - Game day

—————————————————————————

From my dorm I could already hear James yelling in the common room. I smirked, sitting up in bed and stretching, the early morning light filtering through the curtains. James's voice was booming, no doubt talking Sirius's ear off about plays for the game.

"What is his bloody problem." Marlene groans, putting her pillow over her head.

"He's been up since dawn, hasn't he?" I asked, swinging my legs over the edge of the bed and grabbing my robes.

"Probably never even slept," Lily mumbled from her bed, rubbing her eyes. "You know how he gets. It's like a life-or-death situation with him."

"Ugh, well, we've got a game to win," I said, trying to sound more energetic than I felt, but Marlene only groaned again.

"You don't have to deal with him on the field," I continued. "He's going to be like this until the game ends."

I threw on my Quidditch gear and glanced at Lily, who was slowly getting out of bed, looking more amused than annoyed.

"Are you coming to watch?" I asked her.

"Yeah, wouldn't miss it," she said, putting her bright red hair up in a bun.

"Good. I need someone cheering me on."

As I made my way toward the door, I could still hear James barking orders downstairs. I braced myself for whatever madness was about to unfold.

"Claire! So glad you're up this early for game day." He says, patting my shoulder.

"Not by choice, you woke up the whole damn Gryffindor house."

James grinned, completely unfazed by my sarcasm. "Well, good! Everyone should be up to support the team. It's game day!"

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help smiling. "You do realize not everyone has to be awake four hours before the match, right?"

"Four hours is plenty of time to get into the zone," James said, practically bouncing with energy. "Right, Sirius?"

Sirius, sprawled lazily in one of the armchairs, yawned and stretched. "Yeah, yeah, just save some of that energy for the actual game, Captain."

"Speaking of energy," I said, giving James a look. "You're not going to drive us all insane before we even get to the pitch, are you?"

"I make no promises," he said, flashing me a cocky grin before turning back to Sirius. "Alright, we've got time to run through the plays again. Let's go over it!"

Sirius groaned and dragged himself out of the chair. "Fine, fine. Let's just make sure we actually win after all this shouting."

As they started going over plays, I grabbed my broom, mentally preparing for what would no doubt be a long morning.

"Well i'm getting breakfast if you guys wanna come."

"Gladly, i'll let Remus and Peter know." Sirius said, practically jumping out of his chair.

James was still buzzing with energy as we entered the Great Hall for breakfast, his enthusiasm filling the room. "We're up against Hufflepuff today! Can't let our guard down, Claire. They may be underdogs, but they've got solid players this year."

"Yeah, but we've got you as captain," I teased, sitting down at the Gryffindor table and reaching for some toast. "So they don't stand a chance, right?"
