Chapter Two: Rise Of A Hero
Izuku Midoriya woke up the next morning with the biggest migraine of all time. He groaned in pain as he sat up, his All Might alarm clock repeating, "I am here, to wake you up."
Izuku groaned as he sat up, groggily shaking his head. It felt like he was going to throw up at any second.
"What the hell did I even do to be in this much pain? Is this from getting my ass kicked from Kacchan and them?" Izuku shook his head once more before standing up and then froze as he saw a floating screen before him.
"First the headache, then the migraine," he said, sighing. "There's no way in hell I'm not drunk."
He shook his head more violently this time, and then he proceeded to wipe his eyes. When he looked back, the floating screen was still there.
"What in the ever-loving fu-," he stopped as he got a notification of the floating screen. "Wait, is this like a video game? Have I been isekai'd?"
Of course, no one was there to answer his questions, especially the floating screen. He sighed, at the very least, he would look.
It flickered to life as he approached the screen, displaying a sleek interface. Izuku's eyes widened as he took in the various menus and options. This was not something from his world.
"System Settings," he read aloud, his finger hovering over the option. "User Information... Quests... Inventory?" Izuku's mind raced with questions. What kind of system was this? How did it end up in his room?
He hesitated for a moment before selecting "User Information." The screen flashed, and a profile appeared:
User: Izuku Midoriya Level: 1 Status:
Quirkless Abilities: None
Izuku's eyes narrowed at the "Quirkless" label. That was nothing new, but seeing it on this screen made it feel like a harsh reminder of his limitations.
He navigated to the "Quests" menu, and a list appeared:
Quest: Prove Your Worth
Objective: Defeat ten low-level enemies Reward: +10 XP, Beginner's Starter Pack
Izuku's heart skipped a beat as he read the quest description. Enemies? XP? This was video game-like. But how could he defeat enemies when he was Quirkless?
As he delved deeper into the System, Izuku began feeling a sense of excitement and trepidation. This could be his chance to change his fate, to become stronger, and to protect those he cared about. But what lay ahead? And what did the System truly want from him?
As he explored the System, Izuku stumbled upon a "Training" menu. His eyes widened as he read the requirements:
Physical Conditioning Training
Objective: Improve overall physical fitness
Workout Routine:
Push-Ups: 100 reps
Sit-Ups: 100 reps
Squats: 100 reps
Running: 10km
Izuku's eyes nearly popped out of his head. This was insane! He had barely survived the beating from Kacchan and his friends, and now the System was demanding he complete this grueling workout. There was no way in hell.
"No way," he muttered, shaking his head. "I'll do it tomorrow."
But as he turned to leave, the System's screen flickered ominously:
Warning: The quest must be completed before midnight. Failure to do so will result in penalties.
Izuku's heart skipped a beat. Penalties? What kind of penalties?
He tried to brush it off, but the System's words echoed in his mind. He lay on his bed, intending to rest for just a few minutes, but his fatigue soon consumed him.
A few hours later, Izuku awoke from his bed, rubbing his eyes. He looked over to his All Might alarm clock which read 12:45 pm.
I slept for that long? he thought. It must have been fatigue from all those beatdowns.
He sat up in his bed, face to face with the System screen, and sighed.
"Might as well get one of these things done," he murmured to himself. As he scrolled through his lost of things to do, he frowned.
"There's no way I can do the physical conditioning training, but my chances of defeating ten low-level enemies are just as low. What would even qualify as a low-level enemy? A crook, maybe?"
The screen, of course, gave no answers; it only showed his tasks for the day. Izuku sighed, threw on his favorite hoodie (of course, it was an All Might hoodie), and walked out of the house. He needed to clear his head, and there was no better way to do that than with music.
As he walked outside, the sun blaring down on him, he plugged in his earphones and started playing his favorite song:
Do you know what it's like when you wanna go cry
But you can't let out all the feelings inside
So you lay in the bed under blankets and hide
And you let people know that your feeling just fine
And your pillow gets stained with the tears that you cried
And your praying nobody comes in and asks why
And the redness is already taking your eyes
And you wish you could hide it but there's no disguising itIzuku smiled as he started to sing along. As for why this was his favorite song......it just described his life.
Cry let it all out go ahead just fall down
I'm scared of me now
I don't want them to carry me out
Lies your filled up with doub
When I scream no words come out bye
No sit on the couch let me hear what you gotta say nowAs Izuku continued to sing he made his way down the street. It was busy, as usual. People hurrying to get to work, heroes patrolling the streets, and kids just walking around as he was doing.
Walking by an alleyway, a flash of movement caught his eyes and he turned his head to look.
"You seriously got to be kidding me," Izuku muttered to himself. It was Saturday and the last thing he wanted was drama. But when you see your bully and his friends beating a dog in the alleyway...........well, drama finds its way to you.
The dog, if you could even call it that, whimpered at the merciless shower of blows it endured. Izuku knew Bkugou would go for low blows..........but this was low even for him. He quickly counted six kids, including Bakugou, who stood in the alleyway. There was no way he could help the poor animal. He was just going to walk away and get some help, someone who could help, but his System screen dinged in his face:
Quest: Prove Your Worth
Objective: Defeat ten low-level enemies Reward: +10 XP, Beginner's Starter Pack
Yeah, there was no way that shit was going to happen, not now not ever.
