A/N: This is part 2 of the flashback to the night of Iowa's final Preseason game. I wasn't expecting this part to draw out so long, but it did. So expect another part to this Flashback Friday (even though I have yet to post it on a Friday...😅🤷🏼♀️)!
On a completely different note, I just want to clue you in on the extreme amount of joy that has filled my life this week first upon seeing the Fab Four back together! I just love their friendship so much! They were adorable! Next was seeing Christie Sides was fired from the Fever! I quite literally ran around my house and jumped around like a little kid on Christmas because it was about fucking time they let that no good dumbass pathetic excuse of a coach go! It should have happened a long time ago... but I guess they waited for a reason because one of my favorite WNBA coaches is not the head coach of the Fever! Stephanie White is a goat and I can't wait for her to actually coach this Fever team to be the Championship winning team I know they are! Plus, it was quite funny to see that Caitlin immediately showed her support of the new coach when she never seemed to show support for the old one! Funny how that works!🤣🤷🏼♀️
But anyway, I digress... I hope you enjoy the little snippets of banter but also get a glimpse of the drama that continues to grow around Caitlin and Kaela's budding relationship! I do again want to fully apologize for the slowing of my updating this story! It's not a matter of a lack of interest or inspiration, there just really isn't enough time in the day for me to sit down and give this the right amount of thought to give you a good update... I'm nearing the end of my semester though, so hopefully by the middle of December, I can crank out some more updates for you and get this story moving along more smoothly! I appreciate all of you for sticking with me! I promise it will be worth it in the end! Love you all! Happy reading! 🫶🏻
Caitlin POV
"This is straight torture... You're actually torturing me with this, you know that? Why do you hate me so much, Clark?" Kaela whined as she followed behind me down the stairs of her mansion and into the foyer.
"One, this is not torture," I countered while I continued to make my way toward the kitchen. "Two, I don't hate you and you know that. And three, this is good for all of us." I then turned around to face her before walking backward through the doorway leading into the kitchen. "But most importantly, this is really good for you," I finished.
Kaela scoffed, "How is this good for me? Everyone hates me. Why would they want to come to my house and hang out with me?"
"The team doesn't hate you! Name one of our teammates that you know that actively hates you," I commanded unconvinced.
"Well for starters, Kate," Kaela answered matter of factly.
"Kate doesn't hate you," I corrected her.
She didn't let my interruption stop her as she continued, "And then there's Jada, she definitely doesn't like me. Gabbie undoubtedly hates my guts. I don't think Sydney or Taylor like me much either. I'm not really feeling Ava or Kennisee or Molly or Addi or AJ. Hannah is a child..."
"The two of you are like the same age!" I interrupted exasperatedly.
"Yeah, physical age wise, but her personality is like 6," Kaela explained with a straight face.
"So what I'm hearing is that you actually don't have one person that you can prove to me that hates you without a shred of doubt?" I asked rhetorically.
Kaela's face fell into a grimace as if I had just poked her in between the eyes and she answered me, "Well... No... but Kate and Gabbie—"
"You know what your problem is?" I asked once again cutting into her silly excuses.
