Chapter 1

“Subject 105 is awake”

W-what..

“Subject 105 seems stable”

My eyes slowly flutter open as I hear an unknown voice talk. I look around and I seem to be in an experimentation room and I’m in a container filled with water. I look around once again and I see that some contaminants are empty with broken glass and others are filled with water.. like mine.. “What am I even doing here” I thought as I held my hand out to break the glass with the water, but as soon as I tried, I felt electricity run throughout my body causing me to let out a scream.

“Ah ah ah, you shouldn’t have done that Lapis” I turned towards the voice to see a man while gripping my neck as I pant. “You see that collar around your neck, it’s a very special device that sends electric shocks throughout your body if you try to use your powers.” The man chuckled. “They’re made just for you gems. Oh wait. I seemed to have forgotten to introduce myself.” He places his right hand on his chest and left on his back and bows a bit. “My name is Enzo Carlton, and I’ll be experimenting on you from this day forth.” He lifts his head up as a creepy smile makes his way onto his lips. “Such a shame you had to come out chubby, but I created you so it'll have to do.” My body shakes a bit as my eyes look at him with a hint of fear in them.

“Well now, I have to get going, I got other gems to be checking up on.” He smirks a bit as he sees the hint of fear in my eyes and turns to leave. “I wish you goodluck Lapis, you and your future partner better make me proud.” Those were his last words as he left the experiment room.

“What am I going to do? How am I going to be able to get out of here? Is there even a way out?” I think to myself as I look around and begin to try and take off the collar. I place my fingers in between my neck and the metal on both sides and try to pull it apart. I grunt and pant after a while being unable to break it apart so I move one to the next plan and try to break the glass. “Nothing is working.” I mumbled quietly to myself and let out a small sigh. “Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens next and my “future partner” whoever it is may be able to help me.” I said to myself as I began to look around to try and memorize the exists when the time comes to escape.

*3 hours later*

 “What will even happen next? What kind of experiments? Will I be getting shots?” I glance at the door. “Who will even be my “future partner”? Will it be a gem too? What kind of gem will it be?” I anxiously played with my fingers in thought when I suddenly heard the door open causing me to snap out.

“Lapis!”  I heard Enzo calling out to me, making me a bit nervous. “Time to pair you up with your partner.” He said excitingly while rubbing his hands as he walks to my containment. He places his hand on the pad that is next to me and it makes all the water drain out. “Also” he turns to me with a small dark smile “if you even think about running away from me as soon as the hatch opens, think again.” He takes out a small remote from his coat pocket. “This little remote controls that collar of yours, so if you make a run for it.” He presses the button.

“Ahhh!” I fall onto my knees and scream while I clench the collar, wanting it off, as the electric shocks run through me. “That will be the outcome.” He said with a hint of pride in his voice as he lets go of the button and places the remote back into his coat pocket. I gasp and pant as the shocks stop. Enzo gives me no time to relax as he turns and walks away. “Come on, we wouldn't want to keep your new partner waiting now do we?” I slowly begin to get up while my knees shake and begin to follow him as I hear his footsteps fade.

I catch up to him and stay behind him as I look around. I see many rooms. I see a room holding shots and most holding beds, but as we continue to walk through the empty halls, we pass by a long window and through it I see a big training room. My eyes widen a bit as I see some dents and craters on the floor. The man smirks a bit as he notices my reaction to the room and says “Oh that, that's where I train you gems to see who's the strongest one is, one versus one, and where I see the progress of fusions.”

“One versus one?” I thought out loud. The man nodded. “It’s when I put two gems against each other to test their strength.” “How will you know which one is stronger?” I nervously asked in a quiet tone. He smirked at the question. “When on of the gems' physical form is ruined, meaning, they poof.” My breath hitched at his answer. Yes, I know that we don’t die if that happens but imagine what it feels like to kill your friend or loved one.

After a few moments have passed Enzo finally stopped walking and pulled out keys from his pocket. We walk towards a door and unlocks it, but before he opens it, he turns to me and says, “Meet your new partner Lapis.” As I wonder who my new partner was, he opens the door and I walk inside the dark room. Enzo flips the lights on. “Garnet, come out and meet your new partner Lapis.” He called out as I see their back sitting on the bed. 

“Garnet? I dont think ive ever seen a garnet before. She could be a fusion.” I thought to myself as they stand up and face me. She has hair in the shape of a square and damn is she tall, she looks a bit buff but no curvy waist, with glasses on to cover her eyes, and lastly her gem, she has two and both on her palms.“Hello I’m Garnet,” she said unmovingly. “Wait a minute.. The voice” “You’re a boy?!?” I accidentally said out loud.
