Inseparable

Chapter 3

***10 hours later***

“Hmmm..” I hummed softly as I slowly began to wake up. I sit up and look around while rubbing my eyes just to see Garnet leaning against the wall with his arms crossed and facing down from across from the bed. “How long have I been asleep for?” I asked softly. “When did I even fall asleep? Huh, never noticed, didn't think I would be able to either.” I thought to myself. “Ten hours.”He said, and as I was about to say something I heard footsteps walking towards our direction, causing me to stand up and face the door in alert.

The door unlocks and the door opens to reveal a man in a white lab coat. “Mr. Carlton would like you two to go into the training room.” The man says as he opens the door wider. Garnet walks out first and I follow him. The man closes the door as we walk down the hall. I fidget with my fingers, nervous, and scared to see what will happen next, scared to see what he’ll make us do. “Enzo told me that he uses the training room for a one versus one fight.” I glance up at Garnet. “Is he going to make us fight?” I shake that thought outta my head when another thought comes through. “What if it's fusion like what Garnet had told me” Just as I finished my last thought, I looked up and noticed that we made it to the training room.

“Lapis! Garnet! Come here!” I heard Enzo’s voice echoing as we entered the room. We both continued to walk till we were about seven feet away and stood at Garnet’s right side. “Fuse” that was all he said to us, staring at us with cold eyes as he stayed there, waiting for us to fuse. I froze. “I- I don't know how to fuse.” I said quietly and was quickly shot with a glare by Enzo. “You will learn, you will keep trying till you get it right.” He said coldly, causing me to shake a bit. I couldn’t take my eyes off him, feeling and seeing his intense stare made me.. Frozen.

I suddenly felt hands on my arms, softly caressing, causing me to get goosebumps. “Just relax and only look at me.” I heard Garnet whispering in my ear from behind when he suddenly slid his right hand down to touch my right and spined me to face him, causing me to gasp softly as my double split skirt swayed while placing my right hand on his shoulder pad. He places his left hand on my exposed waist and his right takes my left into his hand. I slowly look up at him and notice how close we are, causing a slight blush to appear on my cheeks and look away from him. “Follow my lead” he whispered then began to lead me as we danced a little.

He spun me once again but this time he ended it with a dip, my arms around his neck, right knee up, and his hands around my waist. What I didn’t feel was his thumb caressing me, near my gem. “We didn’t fuse yet though..” and just as I finished my thought, Enzo clicked the button and electric shocks went through me. “Ahhhh!” I screamed and clenched onto the collar as Garnet gently set me on the floor. His left arm around my shoulders and his other over my stomach. I lean into him. “Why isn't he getting electrocuted too?” Just as I finished my thoughts, the collar suddenly stopped. “You’re probably wondering why I didn’t activate Garnet’s collar too.” I slowly look up at him with half lidded eyes while panting. “It’s because this isn’t his first time, I know he can fuse, but you, you don’t.” He crosses his arms. “Try again.”

***1 hour later***

I screamed once again as he activated the collar. “PLEASE!! PLEASE STOP! IT HURTS!! I’M SORRY!” I repeated as I’m curled up on the floor, clenching onto the collar once again while sweating. Garnet tried to stay by my side but Enzo forced him to stay away this time. The collar stopped once more as I lay there, panting heavily with sweat dripping down and tears as my body shakes. With my eyes barely open I see two men in lab coats come in. “Take Garnet back to his room.” He told one of the men. “And take Lapis to the operating room.” he told the other. The man nodded and knelt next to me, then began to carry me bridal style as I was unable to get up.

He took me out of the room and walked down the hall in the opposite direction of Garnet’s room. After a few seconds he took me into another room with a white chair in it that has arm rests. He set me down in it and strapped me down. A few minutes later, Enzo walks in with a mask and gloves. He walks to a drawer and takes out a gag that covers and muffles the mouth, he places it  on me as I’m too weak to resist. “This is to give you more energy to be able to live through my tests.” He says, holding a shot. “Don’t die on me.” he said, placing the shot in my arm and pain surged through me once more. I screamed as tears fell out.
