Chapter 4: Breaking the Curse
The next morning, Ravi and Neha stood before the cellar door, the key trembling in Ravi's hand. He hesitated, but Neha gave him a nod of encouragement. Slowly, he inserted the key and turned it. The door creaked open, revealing a dark, narrow staircase leading down into the unknown.
They descended cautiously, flashlight in hand, until they reached a room filled with dust-covered relics and old furniture. In the center of the room was a large, ancient mirror, its surface cracked and tarnished. As Ravi approached it, the temperature dropped, and the room seemed to shift, the walls closing in around them.
Suddenly, the reflection in the mirror changed. Instead of their own, they saw the shadowy figure from the hallway. Its eyes glowed with malice, and it reached out from the mirror, trying to pull them in.
Ravi realized this was the source of the curse—the spirit trapped within the mirror. To break the curse, they would have to destroy the mirror and free the spirit. But the spirit fought back, unleashing a whirlwind of darkness that threw them across the room.
In a desperate act, Neha grabbed a shard of broken glass from the floor and hurled it at the mirror. The glass shattered, and with it, the spirit let out a deafening scream before disappearing into the void.
The curse was broken.
Exhausted and shaken, the family emerged from the cellar, knowing they had finally escaped the clutches of the spirit. Their struggles were far from over, but they had survived the worst. With renewed hope, they vowed to rebuild their lives, free from the shadows of misfortune that had haunted them for so long.
