The madness that is malaria x, stuck the world exactly 2 months from this day. But this isn’t your normal malaria. A year ago, 2 curious scientists found an exposed layer at the base of the Himalayan mountains. Before we go any further, I would like to explain how it is exposed. The Earth consists of 4 layers: the inner core, the outer core, the mantel and the crust. The crust is broken up into 15 separate plates, each moving in their own direction, and this is called plate tectonics. India is on its own plate, slamming into the Eurasian plate, which created the Himalayas.
However, these plates are still moving to this day and the Himalayas are increasing in height each year. The plate is causing the mountains to get taller, so it brings up more and more from the deeper parts of the crust, that we, being the humans, haven’t even touched.
Now that you are informed, let’s continue. The 2 scientists, named Mr. Ranft and Mr. Foster discovered a glowing chemical seeping from a strange brown rock at the base of the Himalayas. They took samples of the liquid and ran tests on it to find out the characteristics of the mysterious liquid. The results were astounding.
The liquid cured many diseases, such as cancer, polio and HIV/AIDS. The human race rejoiced for they had found a miracle medicine that cured almost every disease known to man! Almost.
Now, let’s zoom into Zambia, Africa, where malaria is like an out of control bull, trashing and never ceasing until it has done it’s deed. A young girl was the first to be treated using the new medicine, now given the name, “Life” for it saved so many lives. The shot was injected and was expected to cure her in 24 hours. The girl waited, but her symptoms grew worse. Her fever spiked to read 113 degrees Fahrenheit and rose to 122 degrees, which causes certain death. The girl passed just a mere 2 hours after the injection. Then, her older brother and mother began to show symptoms. Another 2 hours. Gone. The disease, now labelled malaria x spread all over the globe. Airports were shut down. Traveling was no longer safe. The isolated countries began to show symptoms, except a few like Madagascar and New Zealand, who shut down their ports when the news spread like wild fire of the killer disease. Scientists were dumbfounded trying to figure out why Life was mutating malaria, rather than curing it.
The whole world was at a stand still as the numbers dropped, lower and lower until all that was left was us, the blessed and cursed, the people with sickle cell anemia.
