late night talks

The whole day Seungmin hadn't been sure if he should do this. And even now that he was standing in front of Minho's office, he was hesitant to knock. His classes had ended a while ago already, but he was almost sure that his professor was still in his office and not on his way home yet.

Before Seungmin could change his mind, he lifted his hand and knocked against the wood. He regretted it almost instantly, because he knew it would be awkward to be alone with his professor.

He rolled his eyes, but immediately smiled politely, when the door opened and Minho greeted him with a surprised expression. "Seungmin, hello." He said, opening the door wider to let Seungmin inside. "Are you here because of the essay?"

"Yes. I have a few questions." Slowly he walked into the small room.

Inside was a desk with Minho's laptop and paper lying on it in an organized way. There were two chairs in the room and Minho pulled one of them to the desk. "We can go through your essay together." He pointed at the chair, showing Seungmin to sit down, while sitting down on his own chair, so that they were sitting in front of each other.

Apart from this, there weren't many things in the room. There was a small shelf with books on it, a plant in one corner of the room and a couch that made Seungmin wonder if Minho preferred working on there, instead of at his desk.

"I don't understand most of these mistakes." Seungmin started, while he took out his laptop and clicked onto his essay. So far there hadn't been an awkward silence and Seungmin really hoped it would stay like that.

"I thought so. I'm not surprised that you actually came to ask, and I'm glad you did." He said it with such a soft voice, that Seungmin looked down. He couldn't meet his professor's eyes at the moment.

He decided to just start asking his questions and he turned his laptop around so that Minho could see which sentence he was pointing at. "For example, why is this wrong?"

Minho smiled and Seungmin felt this weird sensation in his chest. He ignored it, instead focusing on Minho's words. "Well, overall there aren't many grammatical errors. The problem is that you tried writing more than what we have already talked about in class so far. Your thoughts and theories were very interesting, but that lead to a few mistakes."

Seungmin was surprised how different Minho was. Normally, he was strict and cold and when they were alone, he would avoid his eyes completely and only give him short answers.

But now he seemed so friendly and his eyes were actually warm, when they met his own. He made sure to answer every question Seungmin had, in detail and it felt like Seungmin was talking to a completely different person.

While Minho continued talking about Seungmin's essay, the student listened carefully and took notes. He wasn't surprised that Minho was talking about the topics so passionately.

It had always been very clear that he loved his job and that he was doing it because he was genuinely interested in teaching and sharing his knowledge with other people.

He seemed like he was glad that someone was actually interested in what he was talking about as well because usually students didn't really listen in class.

When they had gone through the whole essay, Seungmin was surprised by how much time had passed. It had felt like half an hour, but when he looked out of the window, he could see that the sun was going down already.

Still, for some reason he didn't want to leave yet. The atmosphere was strangely comfortable and he liked that it wasn't even awkward between them when they didn't know what to say for a while.
