"I don't, Abba. All i did was beat up a guy who said rubbish about her character i believe even Yazid would have done that."

Umaimah felt the words like venom to her ear, he means there's nothing between them. All the there'll be no Umaimah and Nabeel, if I want you I'll get you, if there's anything remember you have me, the picking her up on his shoulders, getting her new clothing, beating up a guy for her.

They meant nothing to him. She was the only one thinking maybe he was even the tiniest bit interested and felt flutters of butterflies but it was nothing? She sure is stupid. She thought they had a chance, maybe the beginning of something?Maybe she was badluck afterall and would never get anything she wanted.

"You don't like her?" Nini asked for the first time since Abba walked in. "What is it about going to her room at night then."

"Nini do you also believe I'm sleeping with her?" Nabeel asked shocked.

"Ofcourse not. I just want to know what you go there to do if you don't like her."

"I like her, she's my sister not the way you think. I went to her room only twice at night and believe me it wasn't so i could touch her or gist, i told her not to go out with tight clothing. You can ask her."

Nini sighed. He's just waiting for Abba to drop the bomb, he knows something is definitely wrong for this sort of— family meeting?

"That's good then, we thought you liked her so we wanted to tell you you can't have her because she's still married."

No one can tell who looked up first in shock between Umaimah and Nabeel. "Married?" Nabeel asked. "Abba, i showed you the divorce letter and video myself, have you forgotten?"

"No, i didn't Nabeel," Abba Paused. "May Allah SWT forgive us but we made a mistake, we committed a sin." No one could decipher exactly where the conversation was leading to except Nini whose head was facing down and her eyes were red, ofcourse she knew what the matter was all about.

"Do you know that when a woman is divorced according to our religion there's Iddah period?" He was still looking at Umaimah.

"Yes," She answered.

"Umaimah you're still a married woman."

“How?” She asked.
“Still married?" Yazid asked.

"If a woman is divorced thrice at a time or at a point where she's not clean that means if she's in her menses/ menstrual period or a period after childbirth where there's Nifass blood then the divorce is considered null and void." Abba explained further.

"You were divorced thrice at a time and you were not pure i supposed because you just gave birth, Some Scholars argue that the divorce is valid and the husband should be punished and beaten to a pulp but your divorce was complicated, I'm sure Nabeel forced the divorce out of him, it wasn't his intention."

"When there are two verdicts from different scholars, then you go with the one that settles in your mind. And I'm sure the doubts i have about this divorce are plenty, we can't consider it a divorce. What if she's really not divorced and we consider it a divorce and get her married someday eh?"

No, they weren't expecting something like that. Were they? Nobody was as surprised as Nabeel, i guess not even Umaimah.

Nabeel was sweating even after the Air Con was doing just fine. Nothing came to his mind like making Asad divorce her the moment he steps his feet in Dasuki. Did he just hug a married woman? Ya Allah. He hates even thinking of it, Mrs Yabo? The thought of it makes him cringe.
