Chapter 20: Daddy, why not me?

Evelyn was in the hospital bed. The social worker and nurses had been checking in with her. Evvy's only question was, "When can I see my daddy?" She didn't get a response. They wouldn't tell her anything. Evvy just wanted to go home and sleep in her own bed with her dad. But they wouldn't. She would cry, and she would beg, but nothing still.

A nurse came in when she was crying "Evelyn what's wrong?"
"I want my daddy."
"I don't think your daddy wants you."
"He's does they took me away from him."
"I want him so much. He protects me."
"Evelyn, if they took you away from him, he must hurt you."
"He doesn't."
"Then he must not want you."
"My dad wants me he does."
"Are you sure?" The nurse left Evelyn sat there stunned thinking about what the nurse said her dad didn't hurt her. So does that mean her dad doesn't want her. Is that why he couldn't see her and she hasn't had a call or a letter. Does he just not care?

When her social worker came in later that night, Evelyn said, "Why did you take me away from my dad?"
"We had a report of neglect and abuse against your dad, so we can't let you live there while we investigate."
"My dad never hit me or ignored me. He is the best dad. So does he not want me?"
"He does, I promise Evelyn. He's on the phone every day trying to talk to you, but I'm not allowed to let him because of a judge ruling."
"Get the judge to unrule it!" Shouted Evelyn. "I can't, sweetheart, that's not my job, my jobs to look after you."
"Well, you don't do a very good job with that, do you?" Spat Evelyn
"Evelyn, I am doing the best I can, and I'm trying to help you go hone to your dad. But that's not all up to me."
"Why can't you let him see me? You don't have to tell anyone."
"I can't, Evelyn, that's against the law." Evelyn got quiet and wine. The social worker left, and she found a wall phone. And called her dad's phone. "Hello, this is Dr. Spencer Reid?"
"Daddy?"
"Evelyn."
"Come pick me up, please."
"I can't darling I want to, but I'm not allowed they could never give you back to me."
"Daddy, please. Come get me."
"I can't." It broke Spencers heart hearing his daughter plead for him, knowing he can't do anything for her. "Daddy, please. Please choose me."
"I do choose you. I just can't get you or see you."
"Daddy, please. Daddy, why not me?"
"Darling, it's you. you're the only one for me it's always you, Evvy. And I love you dearly. I just can't see you right now, but I promise I will soon."
"Daddy!"
"Evelyn, I'm so sorry, my darling daughter. I'm not allowed. I'll be arrested. I'm so sorry. I should never let you be taken away. I was hoping they wouldn't hurt you it's my fault. But if I come get you, they'll take you away, and I'd never see you again."
"Daddy!"
"I'm sorry, I love you, Evelyn."
"I love you, Daddy." Spemcer hung up his heart shattered he had been sitting at his desk on that phone call as he pleaded with Evelyn crying as he headed her sob and pleaded in desperation. Morgan said, "Reid?"
"Evelyn called me she wanted me to pick her up." He cried some more.
"Oh, Reid, I'm so sorry." The nurse took Evelyn away from the phone and back to bed. She was sobbing and crying out for her dad.

She had no one to comfort her. Not her dad, not the nurse, not the social worker. She was left crying for her daddy, and Spencer was left calling our fir his daughter.
