Hi and welcome! I've been so excited to share this story with you.
The Murphy Sweetheart is the first book in the next second-generation series! If you've been following along with the series, we're taking trip back to Boston to learn more about the Murphy and Carmichael families once again.
You do not have to read anything prior to this story to understand what is going on! This is a stand-alone story that can be read on its own or as part of the series - your choice!
If you're interested in starting from the very, very beginning though, I would recommend reading The Murphy Rose (Queens of Boston series). You can also just read Emery's parents' story, The Murphy Princess, if that interests you. Again, you do NOT have to read anything before this to enjoy though :)
Emery Murphy is the daughter of Boston Irish mafia kingpin, Finn Murphy and his wife, Kailey Murphy. She is super smart and a little bit awkward, but sweet all the same. I like Emery because she's confident but still kind of a dork. She's always had a crush on one of her father's top henchmen-turned-right-hand, Rhys Whelan. Rhys is called the "hotshot" because he's loyal, talented, charismatic, and oh so hot. When Finn hires Emery to work under Rhys - sure enough, tensions rise.
There is a 7 year age gap, so it's nothing too too big. This is a dual POV, workplace, forbidden, mafia romance - and there are some dark elements.
Content warning as usual: heavy sexual content, violence, alcohol, and mention of sexual assault (off-page).

Secondly, fun fact about THIS story... I actually wrote Emery and Rhys' story over two years ago. I wrote this story before I even thought of the Donnelly series (The King's Arrangement). I ended up putting Emery's story on pause and have finally come back to it. I ended up rewriting almost the whole thing because I didn't love the original as much anymore -- and so much has happened with the Donnellys/Murphys since then. I'm finally in a place where I'm ready to share this story! And I am so excited!
The Murphys always have held a special place in my heart. Rose Murphy, Fitz, Finn, Kailey, Brenna, and Jack were the first stories I ever thought of, and this whole world has spun from them. It was never meant to go beyond the trilogy - but then I thought of Connor, then I thought it would be fun to write a second-gen of the Murphys, then I thought of the Donnellys, and now here we are. WHEW!
Anyway. Enough of me talking. I really hope you enjoy this one :)
