The Quarry 2.0

Part 7. Morning

(Were jumping to the aftermath. All counselors lived, Kaitlyn freed Jacob from the cage, the hacketts all died except Travis, Emma and Abi locked Caleb in the freezer, Laura killed Silas, they found all the evidence, and the sun has risen.)

The sun shined brightly and glistened off the morning dew on the grass of the woods. Three figures walked in silence towards the side of the lodge. One older man in a sheriff uniform, a short girl wielding a shotgun, and a blonde girl between them, drenched in blood.

Towards the front of the lodge, one rough looking, shirtless guy emerged from the woods.

At the same time, two tall boys also emerged from the woods behind the lodge. They had all made it. They weren't going to be okay for a long time, but they were alive.

Abi creaked the lodge door open and peeked around.

"Kaitlyn!" She exclaimed, spotting her walking up towards the abandoned van in the front of the lodge, "You're alive! And you got the police, thank god!"

Kaitlyn smirked and waved, "Not exactly. I mean, he is police but he's... nevermind." She sighed, realizing the story is way too long to get into right then. She started speeding up and jolted up the deck stairs, tossing her gun to the side and quickly hugging Abigail.

Emma soon peeked her head out from behind Abi's shoulder.

"Hey girl! Crazy night." She exclaimed, grinning. Emma and Dylan were kind of the same in that manner. Always trying to lighten the mood with a joke or remark. Kaitlyn liked that.

"Crazier than any rager we could've planned." Kaitlyn joked.

Laura and Travis followed her up the steps and to the door. "Excuse me, miss, but I'd like to come in and asses the situation." Travis asked Abi, who sheepishly obliged, moving out of the way and letting the man step in. Next was Laura.

"That's a lot of blood." Abi commented.

"Uhh yeah. Are there any towels or anything in here?" She asked.

"I'll help you, girl!" Emma smiled as they let her through the doorway.

"Hey Abi?" She leaned forward and whispered, "Who's that?"

Abi laughed a little, "I'll tell you later." Emma nodded and headed off to help Laura clean up. She was going to ask Laura about herself in there anyway.

Soon, Jacob stepped forward towards the lodge.

"Nakey Jakey!" Kaitlyn yelled, waving towards him, "surprised you made it on your own."

Jacob stood at the bottom of the steps and stopped to catch his breath, holding his hands on his knees.

"You guys would not believe the shit I went through tonight. I need a nap." He said, lifting his finger up towards the two girls.

"I think we could imagine." Abi said, crossing her arms. "Why are you shirtless, though?" She asked.

Jacob looked up, confused for a second, finger still lifted up in the air.

"I actually... do not remember." He said goofily, walking up the steps and squeezing past Kaitlyn to lean against the deck railing, looking out at the woods.

"Where are the guys?" He asked.

Kaitlyn and Abi looked down sadly.

"Nick could be anywhere, honestly." Kaitlyn sighed.

"And the other two were supposed to go find a part for the car, but never came back." Abi commented.

"You don't think..." Abi started to say but stopped at the thought, not wanting to accept it.
