It was a relatively short walk from the pool house to the lodge where the 3 teens stood, looking around for threats. Dylan was chatting up Abi, mostly to distract her from her thoughts and his pain that was slowly coming back, when he heard a shuffling coming from the van. Oh shit.

"What the fuck." He whispered, pointing at the car that was shaking like something was moving in there. Abi and Ryan backed up behind the tallest in the group, Ryan lifting his gun to point at the driver side door.
Dylan glanced back at them before slowly creeping up to the door. He grabbed the handle and flung it open, only to be met with a scream and spraying sound. Someone maced him.

"Oh fuck! Shit Dylan I'm so sorry!" Emma screamed, leaping out of the van and slamming the door shut. Dylan was writhing on the ground rubbing his eyes violently with the bottom of his palms.

"She maced me! Oh my god my eyes! Fuck I can't see fuck!!" He yelled in a lower more raspy tone than usual.

"Dylan! Dylan!" Ryan yelled in between Dylan's rambling.

"Dude, it's air freshener!" He finally snapped. Dylan paused completely and looked up, realizing he was never in pain in the first place.

"Oh." He muttered, looking a little embarrassed as he lifted himself from the ground, moving both his arms in unison and slipping from the uneven weight he still hadn't gotten used to. Emma saw this and realized there was a very obvious section on her friend missing.

"Shit, Dylan, what happened t-"
She was cut off by Ryan tapping her and making a gesture with his hand for her to drop the subject as he had a feeling it was still very sore one for Dylan.

"Are you okay, Emma? How did you end up in the van?" Abi asked, relieved to see her best friend again.

"You'll never believe me, but I was on the island and some sort of... demon attacked me." Emma explained

"Oh, we believe you." Dylan commented.

"I think they might be werewolves." Ryan explained, "I mean, I know they don't look like werewolves, but the rest of it adds up." Dylan looked around and suddenly had an idea. He opened the hood of the van and started looking around. Kaitlyn had taught him a lot of stuff about cars this summer, and he picked up on that stuff pretty quickly.

"I think we can probably fix this thing. Kaitlyn told me there's a scrap yard up the road, and it looks like the van just needs a new rotor arm." He said, slightly muffled as he was looking down the hood of the car rather than at the people he's speaking to. Emma noticed a small smile slide up Ryan's face.

"Ohhhh..." She said with a grin on her face. She had an idea of her own. "I really don't know anything about cars, Abi either. Maybe we should stay here, and you two can go check it out." She slyly suggested.

"Well, I don't know much about cars either," Ryan said, "but I do have the weapon, so I think that's the best option we have right now." Ryan didn't need an excuse to go off with Dylan alone, but he made one anyway.

"You two should hide. Hide in the storm cellar." Ryan ordered as Dylan slammed the hood shut and walked back to the group.

"Great idea," Abi said. "Be safe, guys!" She waved as she started opening the cellar doors. Emma turned and helped her lift the heavy doors. They both stomped down the stairs and slammed the doors shut above them. They quickly sat down on the steps and sighed breaths of relief.

"Nice." Abi jokes, grinning at her best friend and lifting her hand in the air.

"I know, right?" Emma chuckled and high fived Abi back.

"Think they'll date after this?" Emma giggled.

"You should've seen them in the pool house. All over each other." Abi replied as Emma laughed harder, gently shoving her friends shoulder.

"I can't believe it took this long, to be honest." Abi commented, "All those times, Dylan straight up asked him out or flirted with him and Ryan just... Fumbled." She laughed. Her and Ryan weren't that close, but they did talk from time to time at camp. They had a lot in common being the more shy ones of the group.

"He'd always say,'That's just how Dylan is. He play flirts all the time.' But he never did it with anyone else."

Emma shrugged and lifted her hands up, before plastering a goofy grin on her face "I don't know Abi, boys are dumb."

"Yeah." Abi smiled. She was glad she got to see her best friend again.
