"You're beautiful. Has anyone told you that before?"

I couldn't help but shake my head at this guy's words. What was he playing at?

I turned back around and continued scrubbing, trying to pretend he wasn't there, instead thinking about how I was going to apologize to my father for yesterday. It was something stupid, and I didn't mean it. Gosh, am I dumb.

"Ouch."

Once again, I scraped my knuckles, the same darn finger, making it bleed. I groaned in annoyance as I hurt myself once again. This is why I keep telling myself not to zone out - here I go again.

"That seemed to hurt," his voice suddenly said, sounding closer to me this time.

I realized the vampire was squatting next to me. I groaned again as I gave him a glare.

"Didn't I...?" He quickly interrupted me, taking my smaller hands into his larger and warmer ones. Before I could say anything, he pulled my hand to him and put my injured finger into his abnormally warm mouth, his golden eyes staring into my dark brown ones.

I felt my face warming up as my mouth slowly opened in shock. Without any warning, I reacted by swiftly slapping him.

"WHAT THE FUCK?" I screamed in disgust.

He chuckled, appearing pleased with my reaction.

"I was just trying to heal it," he attempted to reassure me.

I couldn't believe this guy.

"If you don't stop with this disgusting behavior, I'm going to leave you here," I threatened.

Once again, that disgusting smirk appeared on his face. "For a lady with such a beautiful mouth, you sure do use spiteful insults. Are you married? I'm sure that mouth must be adored by your husband."

I retorted, "For someone dressed so professionally, you sure are an uncivilized pervert."

He chuckled. "Touché."

I rolled my eyes.

"I apologize, human whose name I don't know. I just thought I needed to heal you so it wouldn't hurt while you were scrubbing."

I sighed. "It's Alina, mosquito."

The man seemed to ponder before repeating my name.

"What a beautiful name for a beautiful lady. My name is Lucas, not mosquito, although that was a good guess."

Who was this guy?

As I tried to refocus on my earlier task, the man continued to talk, marking my first full conversation with a vampire. I scoffed at the thought, but it wasn't entirely unpleasant as it allowed me to ask questions I had always wanted to pose to someone from outside our civilization.
