As if anticipating the outrageous display Gary recoiled, covering his mouth with both hands. Liam cupped his shouting;
"Excuse me gents, if I could have your attention!"
Like a scene out of some cheesy romantic film, all noise ceased. Geez. Cut a guy slack... No inaudible chatter? Or annoying gym echo? Payne had to be way over his head.
Then, like the world granted him something sweet, Dani with rosy cheeks and flowing locks galore stared in interest. Gosh... What was he compared to her? In cheap polos and loafers ...
"Dani Michealson: it appears my mates have fashioned me too much of a dandy to take you up on your offer, so please..."
The brown haired girl looked utterly confused as her friends gathered closer. What if Gary had lied? Well Liam could never be accused of being a quitter; placing one hand over his heart he sang a familiar tune.
With feverncy soft lilting notes carried past several heads and faculty. Liam never claimed to be any Josh Groban but dang did he enjoy moments like this. Purely living. Performing.
Didn't even notice Gary screaming taunts alongside peers or Dani sneering in disgust or teachers appearing too stunned to move. Nah... He belonged upstage, doing what he loved.
As Torn by Natalie Imbruglia came up a close, however, the defeaning silence dissipated: incessant hollars and "boo's' emanated Liam's center, causing the school boy to frown.
He was an idiot.
"X-Factor reject!"
Gary said this famed line, laughing in earnest, turning to Dani.
"Want to take this git on a date, Michealson? Heard he's quite the singer!"
Once the brunette sprinted, flanked by every friend imaginable, Payne gathered his belongings. Preparing to flee himself. What a way to end the afternoon.
