𒊹︎Unfamiliar Familiarity𒊹︎

The morning sun bathed the university in a golden light as Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin walked side by side toward the sprawling academic buildings. It had become their usual routine—three friends bound by their shared love for teasing and banter. But lately, things felt a little different. Especially for Taehyung.

Jungkook and Jimin were chatting animatedly about something trivial, but Taehyung’s mind was far from the conversation.

Every now and then, his eyes would flicker toward Jungkook, his heartbeat quickening at the sight of his smile, the sound of his laugh. It had only been a few weeks since they had become close friends, but somewhere along the way, Taehyung’s feelings for Jungkook had shifted.

He wasn’t sure when it happened—maybe it was in those quiet moments when they laughed together or in the simple, carefree way Jungkook treated him—but Taehyung had fallen, and he had fallen hard.

“Yah, Taehyung, are you even listening?” Jimin nudged him, pulling him out of his thoughts.

Taehyung blinked, quickly forcing a smile. “Yeah, yeah, I’m listening. Something about…skipping class?”

Jimin grinned, shaking his head. “You’re hopeless.”

They reached the entrance of the university, the towering building casting long shadows across the quad.

The familiar sight of students milling about, rushing to their classes, filled the air with a kind of comforting noise.

As they stood at the steps, Jimin waved his hand dramatically. “Alright, I’m off to art. Try not to get lost without me.” He threw Jungkook a wink before heading off in his usual playful stride.

Taehyung chuckled softly, but as he turned to say goodbye to Jungkook, he felt the unfamiliar flutter of nervousness in his chest.

His heart thudded in his ears, and he swallowed hard, trying to keep his cool. He didn’t want Jungkook to notice how much he affected him.

“Uh, I’ll see you at lunch,” Taehyung mumbled, his voice a little quieter than usual, his eyes darting between the ground and Jungkook.

Jungkook smiled, oblivious to Taehyung’s inner turmoil. “Yeah, see you then, Tae Hyung.”

As Taehyung turned to walk toward his music building, his hands tightened around the straps of his backpack. He didn’t look back, but his heart was still racing. If only Jungkook knew how hard it was to keep his feelings hidden.
