After thinking about it for a while, Leona finally decided to take Ace home.

Using all the strength she had, she managed to get him on his feet and dragged him into her car.

She strapped him in with the seatbelt, his body weak and slumped in the passenger seat.

Once he was secured, she started the engine, gripping the steering wheel tightly as she took a deep breath, trying to steady herself before pulling away from Rivershade.

Her focus was on the road, following the directions from Waze.

She drove carefully through the now dark and mostly empty streets.

"What am I doing? This wasn't part of the plan." She sighed.

"Ahh, it's already 7.30. Grace is probably wondering where I am."

She remembered Grace's reminder that morning not to come home too late.

With caution, Leona grabbed her phone, balancing her attention between the road and her phone, and recorded a voice message for Grace.

"Hey, sis, I'm running a bit late tonight. Still got some stuff to take care of. Don't worry, I'm 99% okay, just 1% tired. Go ahead and sleep without me."

She said, keeping one hand firmly on the wheel.

Suddenly, Ace, who had been lying silently the whole time, started mumbling, like he was singing.

Leona was startled.

She glanced over at him, frowning in disbelief.

Did she really just hear that?

Oh god! She never expected to see him, of all people, acting like this.
