K. LASWELL'S LAPTOP: LOGIN

kate takes a breath before entering her passcode not because she's trying to remember it or because she's tired, but because this rundown report will be hard. they are always difficult, especially with deaths. but this one hits a little too close for her, and she can't quite understand why.
she looks at her bookcase and thinks the quicker she can scan it over the faster it will be done. kate's been working for about 13 hours at this point, after this she is free to go home. so she turns back to her bright screen and types in her password.

she clicks on it, "THE CAPTURE OF S. LOPEZ"
it's going as she expected, she's making sure the locations are correct, the times match her notes.
and then she gets to it.
"MEXICO. NOVEMBER 17, 2019 — TASK FORCE CARDS enters into Saul Lopez's safe house and is immediately ambushed. Lopez knew they were coming, possibly due to inside information, the snipers took out [redacted] "ACE" [redacted], [redacted] "JOKER" [redacted], [redacted] "WILDCARD" [redacted], and [redacted] "HEART" [redacted]. Leaving Captain Price alone in her mission to capture the target. She immediately called in 141 for back through K. Laswell and was rescued. She got the package and was able to come home, her lieutenant and sergeants did not make the ride back. Their deaths are not made public yet as their families have not been notified. Once told to their families we can write their names in.
Captain Gwenyth Ivy Price has taken personal time off and will be returning as we see fit.
Let it be known that Commander Phillip Graves is requesting her to be of assistance with the Shadow Company."

kate, who is sipping on her coffee as her eyes glide against the words, is now fully sitting up and scoffing. "that cheeky bastard." her fingers ring up her best friend.
4:12 am:
"christ kate you have any idea what time it is?"
"do you have any idea that graves is requesting your daughter to work with shadow?" she yelled smugly.
immediately john is woken up and trying to process what he heard. he's in his boxers as he walks up to turn the lights on.
"phillip graves' company?" he asks to make sure he's understanding this all correctly.
"oh yeah." kate says.
on her end of the phone call she is closing down her office. the paper work looked good and she is free to head home.
unlike john price. he is wide awake with his mind racing. he stares out his window and he thinks about it, maybe it would be good to be with a larger team? he knew making her captain at such a young age was too much. but general shepherd wanting her to be at her best, and so he did what he thought was good for her. but thats in the past. so maybe this would be good.
"it doesn't sound good to me, john." kate softly says as she gets in her car.
it's like she read his mind. he nods, "alright, what can i do?" john is thinking that graves won't let her go without a fight. so maybe if she can be transferred somewhere else? maybe she can request something else?
"add her to 141, what's the big deal with that? you know she won't be captain, not even lieutenant. she'll be around men you trust." kate says it like it's the most obvious choice.
john's face crinkles, "hmm i'll have to think about it."
"you don't have much time, john."
"ok kate."
"ok john."
CALL ENDS.
john is pacing and wondering what he should do. once gwen entered this line of work he promised her he wouldn't get caught up in her job or what she is doing. he said he wanted her to have her own story but he can't help it. he needs her close and shadow's work tends to be a little more risky. the fact that you can't read most of their paperwork shows that. and why is he requesting her? it's too weird for john, that's why he called the general and asked that the 141 is made priority for Gwen's arrival.
"sure, just ... remember you're her captain out there." general shepherd smiles softly to himself.
"i will. if you could not mention this to her. please."
john doesn't typically use his manners.
"sure john."
CALL ENDS.
it's too much for 4 am, but when will the field see gwenyth ivy again? after something as traumatic as this? could be years. or never. so it is a lot for one morning but ... it may never lead anywhere.
